Hi Everyone,
My gf is a nursing student and I see her constantly looking up stuff in PDR, textbooks, and the internet. I would really like to buy her something to help her out in nursing school and also in clinicals that is very easy and fast to use. I know that for language translation, there are usually small electronic handheld devices where you can easily search for a word or phrase.
What would be an equivalent for nurses? I have heard that there are iPhone, Palm, or Blackberry apps, but I know that my gf does not want to upgrade her phone. Are there any other tools that could help her be the most successful she can be? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
I feel so bad for because she is trying so hard, going to class every day and studying so hard every day and night, but it seems like the school she is going to does not give sufficient support or guidance for the students to succeed. For example, instead of saying, "This is how to best prepare for an exam, or here are some old exams that you could study with (these are the types of quesitons you will receive)," it's more like "Here are a million things the exam COULD cover over 200 pages, 100 powerpoint slides, and 15 lectures, and you just have to memorize it all." Imagine studying for 50 hours for an exam, only to find out that 85% of what you studied was not on the exam. I just figure if a student is willing to put in all the time and energy necessary to study and learn, the least the instructors could do is to give better guidance, or give all the tools the students need to succeed. Otherwise, students will just get de-motivated and feel like all their effort is for naught.
