Yes, I would recommend Goodreader as well, its an amazing application for .99
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/goodr...306277111?mt=8

You can sync it up with Google Docs as well as Dropbox to access cloud docs as well. Good Luck.

Craig, I agree, allnurses.com does look good on the iPad I've spent many late nights playing and tweaking the ipad

Now that I've got a couple of seconds.

Gila, try a combination of these programs. Goodreader, printcentral and a program called papers. They interact, you can download Pdf's from publishers sites, you can view them, send them to printercentral to print, or to papers, which is a library program to sort and keep your articles in. I've got a large number of AACN pubs from the journals already transfered over as well as stuff for my book project. Good reader will also send things to the iWorks programs as well.

I've got a pretty good system put together that works pretty good. I'll be leaving the netbook behind me and taking the iPad. I'll keep the desktop, soon to be a Mac Mini, just to use photoshop and the rare flash video. I'll use real audio to convert to ipod/ipad format.

I haven't attempted to use the VGA adapter yet, but I was able to use iPod Touch to project what I needed so I'm pretty sure I can get the iPad to do it. My only question is video in presentations. But we'll see.

So here's my question: I played with a friend's iPad and it was cool, no doubt....I expected that. But what functionality does it give me over my <4lb laptop convertible?

The honest answer is maybe nothing. I will tell you that the iPad is sir faster at just about everything than my early model netbook. Any device you buy, needs to be bought because of either utility or just because you like cool. You have to make the choice. It has some definite draw backs, and unless you like being the kind of person that enjoys finding workarounds, you might be frustrated.

Thanks for the answer. As a former technology professional (I'm mid-career change to nursing), I love a cool techie toy. However, when I gave up my career, I also gave up disposable income until I'm established in my nursing career.

I don't mind finding the money for a technology tool that really helps me out (ie. my Lenovo X61 ThinkPad, tablet convertible) but, can't drop big cash on the toys the way I used to <sigh>.

    Someday....

Still loving it. I still keep my iPod Touch in my pocket, but have the iPad close by. Just about finished with my "what's on my iPad". i've now gone 2 weeks without the laptop. Can replace the desktop yet.
