Which smart device is best for nurses?

I am looking into getting a device to hold my drug guide, PDF for advance med surg, and skills videos , clinical care plan book etc.

Can anyone recommend some devices? I am looking into Samsung the one without the phone. The other option I know of was the iTouch.

As I cannot afford the cost of a phone, I am trying to have access to these items without all of the maintenance cost.

Also which software do you use?

Thanks in advance. I am getting ready for advance med surg, and these tools in clinicals would be a great help. But, I will not be having phone access or internet access.

I have the touch and our school provided nursing central app with drug guide, tabers, etc that you can access offline. It is $99 for initial set up or you can try the free apps first but they do not have all the same info

What is the name of the package that your school had you use? It may be just what I am looking for. Is that the itouch that you use? Does it matter is I get the samsung.

I have the Samsung that you may be talking about! It's the Samsung Galaxy, and I LOVE IT. I have the Davis Drug Guide on it, which is VERY useful. You can save a list of "favorites" to refer back to quickly on the app, too. I personally don't like Mac products because I don't like the format of it. You can't have your favorite apps on the "desktop" and everything. My Samsung Galaxy is 5 inches, which is a really great size. It fits well in your scrub pockets. And the screen is not TOO big, but big enough to see everything on the screen well. There is also a Samsung Galaxy that comes in 4 inches and 3.2 inches. But I believe the 3.2 inches is too small.

What do you mean you can't put your favorite apps on the desktop on an iPad? I've got one, and not only can you customize the location of all your apps, but you can add bookmarks of your favorite websites right there too :-)

I think either one will do fine, they both have access to the app you need. Instead of buying new, I would look for a used itouch, iphone or samsung. I think you will have more luck finding an old itouch or iphone. BTW you can use the iphone without getting a contract, you just wont have cell service but you can use wifi. There should be a glut of iphone 4's out there right now.
