PDA Cases -- Any Suggestions?

  1. I recently bought a Palm TX and want to get a case for it soon. Do most of you have cases for yours? If you do, what type/brand do you prefer?

When I had a Palm - I had a Palm brand aluminum case. Dropped my PDA several times and never had any problems. Now that I have a smartphone, I still use an aluminum case...unsure of the brand as I bought it off the internet. However, I really like it because it fits snug and also has a lining which hopefully will cushion a fall.

I just bought a Palm TX also and bought a palm brand hard case that is aluminum in color. I like that it has the palm slide onto a bar inside so when you do open the case, the palm can't just fall out. And I think it's just more durable and less likely to get torn up from wear and tear and over usage.

I am thinking of getting this case, but I was wondering how it "latched" into the case. Is the device really secure or does it wiggle around/chance of falling out? Also, is there any kind of padding in the aluminum case, or is the device just in there?
I just bought a TX and am also researching what case to buy. I'd like to get a hard case, as I am rather clumsy. However, I have ready a LOT of pretty bad reviews on the Palm brand aluminum case. They consistantly say that the latch breaks, sometimes in 2 days, sometimes a month, sometimes 3 months. Oh, and a lot of people seem to complain about the TX rattling aroung in the case. I'm sure some people have good experiences with this case, but I've read more complaints than accolades.

Here are a few cases I am looking at:

Whatever you end up buying, please post a review!!!

For my Palm - there was a groove that the PDA slipped through and it was very secure - no way unless you intentionally removed it was it going to come out. There was no padding in mine.

For my smartphone - there is padding and it slides into the case and is held in place with a secure latch - again - I feel it is very secure.

~My husband & I both have the TX & that stupid $40 aluminum case broke quickly. (he got the leather). I ordered a Flexiskin from Boxwave.com & it came very quickly. It is a skin that custom fits & is not bulky in the pocket. It has a flip cover that I use in my purse, but the cover pops right off when using it constantly at work. I had a leather one that was nice, but it is too bulky to carry around & zip, unzip all the time.~

I bought a hard case made by Bellekin, I think they make a lot of stuff. It has a neoprene lining inside to cushion the Palm, and the outer case is pretty hard. I know its durable I dropped it at clinical once and never hurt the Palm. Plus it has been jostled about in my bag. The case has shown some wear, but not the Palm.

IMHO, hard case is a great investment. (Not too expensive either)

The Palm hard case that I got does not have padding in it. It does have two slots to store memory cards. There is a bar that slide into a groove that is on the side of the palm so the palm just won't come out unless you take it out. There isn't that much wiggle room at all in this case. I've only had it for a little while, but I would definately reccommend it.

I tried a search on this case, and came up with nothing. Is it spelled right? I found cases by Belkin, but none by Bellekin. Also, do you know what model case it is and where you got it? Thanks!

The Rhino Skin hard case is available for several different PDA/smart phones. Information is available on their website.

Woops, I probably did spell it wrong! I actually bought mine off ebay, but they sell them at places like Staples, Office Depot, etc. They run about 25.00.

I have the Rhinoskin for my Tungsten. Solid aluminum shell, with neoprene padding and 2 slots for SD cards, Also has the slide bar to keep it secure in the case. It's worth the investment. Now if they could come up with an anti-poop/mucus/blood/insert bodily fluid here case....

Where did you buy it and how much did you spend??? This case seems to come up a lot, and it sounds nice. Just want to have an idea of how much I should spend when I start looking for a case. Thanks!
