- Oct 1, '03 by vaccrnIf your looking for software for a plam check out http://www.skyscape.com They have several programs that are worth the money. First and foremost is The Anesthesia Drug Handbook. This has all of the anesthsia drugs that you're going to be using. Another good selection is Clinical Anesthesia. It's basically a PDA version of Baby Barash (Barash is the author of one of the gold standard anesthesia texts). Both are great additions to any anesthesia providers PDA, but neither are free.
- Oct 1, '03 by gooserCRNA2b2, you mention an anesthesia program that you downloaded for a palm pilot. What is the address for this program? And, is it also free to download.
I downloaded the Epocrates and it really seems to be a good program. - Oct 2, '03 by duckboy20I was mistaken, it is not PalmOS that I have it is a pocket pc with windows database. Does anyone have any info about a free epocrates or such that I can get? Thanks
- Mar 12, '06 by hooterhorseI thought it was Hippocrates too! But I did my search on the web for PDA nursing software...and of course Epocrates came up...so I figured it out.
I tried the Tayler Clinical Skills download (rationale was included), but it wasn't exactly what I was hoping or looking for. The only features that were unlocked in the trial version weren't very representative of the software...or if they were, it wasn't very useful software! Then I tried the epocrates free download and there wasn't any drug-drug interactions in the information! So that program was deleted as well. Finally I purchased the Nursing Constellation from Skyscape and I think that I'm going to be able to utilize that program. The Davis Drug book came with the Constellation bundle and had all the information that I was familiar with from using my hardcover Davis Drug book....including that drug-drug interaction stuff and dosage information that I simply CANNOT memorize!
Anyone out there know of any free downloads for my PDA that are reliable and useful tools to have on board????
Jean & Houdini (newbie) - Mar 12, '06 by hooterhorseOK, what did I do wrong? So many people report that the free download version of Epocrates is a good program...I browsed through it after downloading and didn't see any information on drug-drug interactions!
Jean & Houdini - Mar 12, '06 by traumaRUsThe free download of Epocrates is the bare-bones edition. You will find additional info including the drug interactions, prescribing info, labs, symptom help, etc., only if you pay for it. However, I found it definitely worthwhile in my APN program and I use it daily. I have a Palm Tungsten E with a memory card.
- Mar 12, '06 by hooterhorseI have a Tungsten E2. I purchased the Nursing Constellation from Skyscape which has the Davis Drug book on it. Would I be duplicating info if I purchased the Epocrates also??? Will the Epocrates be useful without paying for the yearly subscription? So many have reported that Epocrates is very useful and it is the most popular program out there, but I've seen other reviews that the Davis Drug book is superior. I realize that alot of this is personal preference though. Reviews are about the only thing that I have to rely on when deciding to purchase software. I'm still exploring the Nursing Constellation to determine what else I may need to buy.
Jean & Houdini - Mar 12, '06 by NemhainQuote from hooterhorseI've had Epocrates and it's not bad, but you should know that it's not nursing focused. The Davis' Drug Guide and the Nurses Druge Guide are two really great drug books that have much much more than Epocrates. Some people are even happy with the Mosby's or Lippincott guides too. Epocrates is good for one-stop shopping, but if your very concerned with content than it is best to buy separate applications.I have a Tungsten E2.
