I need a new laptop and was wondering if some of you could tell me what you like best. I have searched some older threads from 07, but I am sure more laptops have came out since then. Here's what I... Read More

Fujitsu T series! It's a pc tablet. I write notes on the screen...and can be saved. Records lectures and the battery lasts 2+ hours. Greatly recommended it. They're shipped fron Japan and cost $20 for shipping. It's worth every penny.
I have a tablet as well, it's the best thing I ever bought for school. Do you use OneNote for your notebooks?

I just purchased the 2010 student home office and it comes with OneNote, but I cannot figure out what it is or what it does.

Think of it as a big binder. You can create different sections (I think the default is for these to be tabs across the top) and within each section you can add pages for your notes (default for this, is for the pages to be listed down the right hand side of the screen).

I create a section for each class (just as I would in a binder). I print my Prof's PowerPoint slides to OneNote, and then take my notes on them. No more printing out endless powerpoints, and I can still write on my notes (or type if I choose).

    Hope that helps!

If you're not planning to use it very often or as your primary computer then I'd say go for a Sony or even HP something that you can have MA Word running smoothly. Personally I use a 13 inch MacBook Pro and it's great but pricey. But it really all depends on you. Ask you self what you want out of the machine, how much your gonna use it for, how long the laptop will hold up etc. Hope this helps! :-)

I only use Onenote when I add powerpoints to the notes. I write most of my notes on the Journal, which looks like college ruled paper. The tablet comes with three extra pens.

I used to write most of my notes in Journal as well, like you...except the ones I had PowerPoints for. I slowly transitioned to OneNote though. It allows me to keep all my notes in one place, gives me better search functions within my handwritten material and allows me to synchronize the audio recording of my lecture with my written notes. Oh, and it has college ruled paper as well (or graph, or plain, etc).... the place to change this is under format.

    Peace,

I have a Toshiba netbook and a Gateway laptop. It boils down to screen size for me. I use both of them, but some of the sites I need for my courses won't scroll on the 10.1 screen.

Mine was upgraded to the 2G right off the bat and the weight is a big plus. I just need to be able to navigate around a site for school.

If your not happy with your PC you should go to this web site 'supaswap dot info' where you may be able to swap it out with another member for something else. If you cant swap it you could always use the site to sell it

    Hope this helps

well, i have one of everythng, I have a Dell desk top for at least 6 years now, I bought a 17 inch HP laptop a few monthes ago because I started online classes andneeded something dedicated just to school work. I love the 17 inch screen, fast start up time, decent battery life. BUT to travel with it was a little unhandy so I started looking for a netbook and got a toshiba, slower to boot up but nice little computer. Also becacuse the new models were coming out I got a 135.oo discount on it.
