The iPad, what do you think?

So, we had our first iPad impression today. What do you think? Frankly, I am underwhelmed.

    No camera.
    iPod/Phone based OS
    No Flash plugin
    No removable battery
    No multiple running apications
    No support for Verizon 3G
    64 GB memory max

What we have here is a tablet sized first generation iPod touch.

My guess is after Apple makes their money selling this, they will introduce updated versions with the cool features and rake in more money. As an iPhone user, I am getting sick and tired of this tactic. Sorry to be a hater Apple, prove me wrong.

Too much money for too little. The Apple name does not impress me. I can't even get enthused enough to buy an iPhone.

I'm interested but will wait to see how it performs when they release the simpler, and cheaper version in March. I could see people with maybe a train commute, or even students making use of this as an alternative to carrying magazines, newspapers or books.

This is the future. Actual books and magazines may disappear eventually.

I think it's really rather beautiful but then I do admit to being in love with all of my Apple products. I can't wait to see it, but I won't buy until they work out the kinks and add more stuff to it.

At first, I thought it was a phone too, but that 3G version coming out later in April, is just adding the ability to allow connection to the internet like the iPhone even when no WiFi is available.

This should be great fun for gamers. The colors, the clarity of the screen looks incredible! I'm in love!

Haha! I think the name driving people crazy is funny. Maybe itab or something would have been more pleasing to folks. I happen to be very tied to my iphone. I think the ipad concept is very interesting, but what I will be more amazed by will be this technology as it evolves. I imagine eventually the two will merge and become something more amazing.

Ok so 30th wedding anniversary coming up. Was gonna ask for jewelry but decided to ask for iPad instead.....so conversation goes:

me: I want an iPad for our anniversary
    hubby: ugh, that sounds disgusting
me: (I explain everything to him)
hubby: Still don't think I could go to a store and ask for an iPad!

Well, please let us know if you get one, how you like it, and what you use it for. I like the size of it. It could easily fit into a tote bag though there is already a bag designed to fit it. Like all of their products, it has accesories. Kind of reminds me of a Barbie doll, that way. You keep buying all those things to go with it...

What do you think you are going to do with it? It is a darn cute little computer thingey!

I'm an APN in a nephrology practice and we have an EMR. So...right now I have this big, heavy laptop that I must cart around everywhere and hope that the wifi works in the units. So....with the 3G iPad, I can take it chair to chair in a dialysis unit and chart as I go....

You guys may want to wait. As I stated no camera and no flash. Good luck getting the full internet experience when a great number of media applications require flash. In addition, it will suck when the 2nd Gen is released with a camera and improved OS and hardware. If Apple remains true to the way they handled the iPhone, it will be worth your time to wait.
