Ipad or Tablet? Apps? Would like to know which you prefer?

  1. 0 I already have a laptop. I would like to purchase a tablet or ipad. I wanted to know who uses theirs in nursing school if for which do you have? Pro and cons? Which apps you have downloaded? Thanks a lot!!!

I've been in the same boat, but after playing around with the ipad in the store and doing a lot of online research, I'm going with an ipad. I'll be using it as my notebook and for as many books as I can. I'm planning on using Evernote and its note taking add on and possibly a different note program if I'm not happy with penultimate. My program also requires a smart device (phone or tablet) for clinical guides, and since I already have an iPhone, I feel that keeping everything on similar devices will be easier.

I'm going to keep an eye on this incase someone has a rave android tablet review as I was also considering the Samsung note b/c of the pen technology and the expandable memory.

I was thinking the same thing. Do you know the difference between the ipad 2,3,4 I know the ipad 4 would probably be the best but its gonna be the most expensive.

I'm not sure which version it is, but the new one with the retina display is what in planning on. I played on that in the store and then went to the mini w/o retina and it was night and day. I almost felt like my eyes were working harder on the non-retina display. The same thing happened when playing on my sister in law's ipad 2. She got that one cheaper than the retina one from best buy (I think). For the amount of time I know I'm going to be looking at the screen, I'm willing to pay more for something that's more comfortable on my eyes (some of my classes are also completely online.)

I would spend a good amount of time physically playing with all of the options and see how they feel and respond and what they have. I'm still doing this every time the hubbs asks to go into the apple store or best buy. And don't be afraid to ask questions about the items. I ask the same question to each person who comes up to help me to see if I'm just getting a plug or a genuine response.

I don't have either, but I had an iPhone in school (and now). I like Micromedex. I actually use it at work to look up drugs I am not familiar with before I administer them.

i have an iPhone 4S and an iPad [the newest] and LOVE IT!

i have many great apps...we just finished cardiac, i had an app from nucleus animation [who has videos on YouTube...if you are a visual learner, i HIGHLY suggest checking them out!] which was called iHeart Touch...it was AMAZING! i also have many other apps on my iPad that are helpful as well, such as Micromedex suggested above by Racer15.

I am trying to figure out the same thing. I have a Kindle Fire which I've downloaded a couple of books to but I want something bigger and with more capabilities. I'm ready to get an iPad or Tablet or some kind and have the same questions. I want to least amount of limitations. I do have an iPhone so I like the idea of being compatible with that. I Google more than using specific apps. I do have the apps for anatomy, MedCalc, Lippincott's NCLEX RN review and Evernote on my iPhone. The drug ones were so large and I found it less time consuming to just Google the med on Drugs.com website.

I received the newest ipad with retina display for Christmas and LOVE it. It is so fast, clear, and makes me excited to be nerdy. I highly recommend it.

I have an iPad Mini and absolutely love it. My friend has an iPad 2 and it almost feels.. Awkward to hold. I have Evernote and AudioNote installed. I haven't used AudioNote on my iPad yet but I have it on my MacBook and it works great.

I heard that this is the one to get due to the retina display. It will save your eyes in the long run. I know of a 30 year old who did her whole masters online and now has cataracts. She was told by her opthalmologist that it is because of staring at her computer screen for so many hours daily reading from it.

Who knows what other factors vary into it but I do worry since I will be downloading most of my larger textbooks onto it and that is what I will be reading from a lot.
