I'm thinking of getting an iPad Mini. Does anyone have one? What are the pros and cons?

I got the new iPad with Retina Display during the second to my last term of nursing school (which was March 2012) and I love it!! The screen resolution is amazing. we're talking more than 1080p. the highest resolution on the iPad thus far.
it really depends on the person which iPad you want for personal and finanicial reasons. I'm really into quality and design, and the new iPad (any Apple product really) looks sexy to me. Lol. they do!
anyway, my iPad really helped be thru nursing school because there were apps that let me use the iPad like a notepad and i could type all my notes using the app "Notability." it was $2 but it was the best $2 i ever spent. and with another app called "Penultimate" i could, with a stylus, virtually pen in my notes in simualted notepads. and connecting to wifi is the easiest thing in the world so i can look up terms in an instant.
"iPad is just a giant iPod" i used to say as a skeptic. but i loved and still do love my new toy! i use it every day for my HD movies and the internet and for the fun apps on the Retina Display that look absolutely amazing.

back to the iPad mini. This version is a what it is: a mini iPad. but without the Retina Display. it's a smaller version of the iPad 2. but in every way an iPad. touch screen. apps. wifi. videos. music. just smaller. probably helps with portability. my iPad is kinda heavy. and maybe its because i haven't worked out in so long bc when i try to hold it with one hand, my arm starts to hurt/burn lol. but i don't love my iPad any less.
I don't really see any cons for the iPad mini. it has all the aspects of an iPad just not the Retina Display. and like i said, depending on the person, preference is preference. I like the high screen resolution, so i got the new iPad.

    So i hoped i helped a bit! (:

also, I highly suggest heading down to the Apple store and test-drive them yourself. The apple people would probably answer your questions about the iPad mini better than i could and tell how you would use it daily.

I have the newest iPad (not the mini) but I am not sure what the technical model name is because I am not very savvy with Apple products & it is a Christmas gift from my parents. Anyways, I have not yet used it for school since I am on break for another week but so far I love it for every day life! Playing around with it really helped and asking around for apps that would help with school was also useful.

I haven't started school yet, but I recently bought an iPad 4th generation Retina Display. I have to say that so far I love it and am looking forward to bringing it to school with me. I'm starting a LVN program in March. I bought a keyboard case from Zagg which I love! I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to use it in class or not. I have an hours commute one way to school without traffic so I'm going to get to school early and use the awesome nursing apps I found and I'm sure it is going to help me do my homework after school. I also have evernote which sync to my iphone and allows me to type up documents.

hey! take advantage of the free nursing/nclex apps!! some you have to pay but its no more than $3. also if you can use your iPad during class, get notability and penultimate for note taking. they're about $2 each but way worth it. there's a davis drug guide app and allnurses.com has an app for the iPad. those are free! good luck in school!!

I've been looking into trying to find a good anatomy and physiology app! I currently have evernote. Have you tried it? So far I like it since it sync's everything to my iphone so I automatically have it with me everywhere! I will look into the other ones. allnurses was the first app I got! But is it just me that on this app the right side of my iPad won't work. I know it's not my iPad since it works perfect on every other app! Oh I forgot about getting a drug guide! Which nclex app do you recommend? Thanks!

I have a mini.....this is my 3rd iPad..got it as Christmas gift from my fiancée. I have two complaints about the mini of which I had no complaints about the other 2 pads. One, having issues with the LTE and wifi working in sync with each other..laws help me if I go to another county...the pad doesn't read my data plan so I have to reset services. Second complaint, got to get to how to focus the camera....so use to just pointing and snap now I have to wait till the thing finish focusing before snapping a pic. I have spent a lot of time with my plan provider trying to work out the kinks, will spend sometime with apple this week to see if there is a problem with my mini....I miss my larger pad only because it didn't have all this issues...we'll see what happens after I take it in. Oh and it won't read my AirPrint printer either...so if you really want a mini really look into it...I would suggest going with the larger latest version just cause I haven't had the best experience with my less than 1 month old mini.

Yea Evernote is cool, but I prefer Notability over it. Just preference I guess. And no its not just you, allnurses app does it to me too when i'm writing PMs (private messages). well... its the left side for me that disappears when the keyboard comes up.
The NCLEX iPhone apps I recommend are the Lippincott ones. they're green and have over 500+ practice questions. about 7 of them are free!! i know right (; even tho they're for the iphone, i have it on my ipad. the screen is formatted for an iphone but it still works. good short and long paragraph rationales.
Saunders 5th Ed. has a mini app with 150Q. also made for iPhone, but still works the same on the iPad. "NCLEX" by Ion Citadel, LLC (with the red asterick and a snake as the icon) is pretty good...and free.k "NCLEX RN QBank" (the one that looks like an ekg strip) has a lot of great practice questions categorized by nursing topic (med surge, psych, maternity, peds, etc. I downloaded "EKG" last night. haven't used it yet but it got a 5 star rating.
and that's all i have so far (:

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I think I'm going to go to the Apple store today and play around with the different iPads. I'm probably going to have to wait until my tax refund comes in. Of course by then they will have all new iPads out
