Beginning nursing student here. I just wanted to let all the local nursing students know that if you have clinicals at any Oakwood site, you will NOT be able to use your smartphone/iphone for any downloaded health programs. I decided to verify with the coordinator there and found out that they will allow you to use an IPOD TOUCH but will not allow use of any type of phone. Phones are NOT allowed on the floor when providing care. This might be something to think about if you were planning on getting a smartphone specifically for this use (like I did, lol!)

Thanks, I just started my program last week. Im very low-tec and hate to ask, but what are you being required to do while at clinicals that you feel the need for an ipod, smart phone, etc?
I would prefer to go as low-tech as possible while in this program, so Im thrilled if you dont need any of that. I dont even like to use a calculator to do the math, but I know Im probably going to have to get used to that.

I enjoy technology. I was planning on downloading Davis's drug guide and Taber's Medical dictionary, so I wouldn't have to lug them around or go looking in another location when I needed to know something. Basically, I wanted it to be able to provide care w/out any interruptions (ie, I've never heard that term, what does it mean or what is that drug, I would like to know how it's used and stuff?)
