I am looking for a new phone and was wondering if anyone can make any suggestions on a phone for a nursing student. I am applying in Jan so I have a few weeks to decide on a phone. Thanks for your help!!!

Oh my gosh! If you need a new phone now is your chance to get an iPhone!! You can go on AT&T's website and get either an refurbished 8-gig for 50$ or a 16-gig for 100$ as long as you open a new contract... I would highly recommend the 16gig. There are sooooooo many apps to help you. That epicrotes is amazing, it's basically a drug and medical database... plus their is a free app called "iTalk lite" which is an amazing recorder for lecture (you can record and wirelessly transfer the files to your computer) and so much more. In clinical, when I am dealing with a drug or disease I have never heard of, I sit down with my iPhone for 5-mins and educate myself...

Go for the iPhone... I can't imagine nursing school without it.

You don't need a phone. You'll be too busy studying to chat with anyone. And you'll be so broke from all the textbooks and other expenses, you won't have the $ to spare on fancy phones or extra data plans.

My school so far is discouraging students from using electronic "books". Yes the iphones, ipods, droids, and palms let you install Drug Books or other things... but your instructors may discourage you from using them. Email you advisor to see what is allowed in the classroom or clinical setting.

Also be aware that any phone with a camera may be banned from Clinical areas due to privacy concerns. Some hospitals also don't let workers carry personal cellphones on them.

Get the cheapo phone. When you graduate you can get the fancy phone.

Well you can always do what I do. I have verizon and until now they didn't have phones that you could put apps on. So I bought the iTouch. No data fees or anything. You can still download all the apps you want just like the iphone but you can only connect to the internet as long as you are near wifi.

So I would just get a phone you like that your carrier has and then purchase a pda or itouch.

I couldn't agree more. I am an instructor and many of our clinical sites, especially mental health sites, forbid cameras with cell phones. However, an itouch still has all the wonderful features of an iphone, it just isn't a phone and doesn't have a camera.

I love mine, as do the students who have them.
