This site is a godsend. I recently stumbled upon it in search of some information about financing my absn. I live in south St. Louis and will be attending SLU's accelerated BSN program at the end of this month. Nice to meet all of you, I'm sure you will be seeing a lot more of me once I begin the program!

Hello, everyone...I am from Ripley County in Southeast MO. I have been an RN for 18+ years. I am practicing now as a Legal Nurse Consultant.:caduceus: I am originally from MS, but consider SEMO my home.

Hi!
I'm a "second career" first semester student in the Springfield area. I'm originally from Chicago, but have lived here in SWMo for close to 30 years - so this is definitely "home" to me now. Nice to meet you all!

Well, I've been here in Missouri for six months now, and I must say I absolutely love it. It is definitely culture shock for me, but I am experiencing St Louis to the utmost!

I had applied to as many hospitals in the area as I could find job listings for, and unfortunately, it seemed as though none would hire me without experience. I am currently working in an LTC facility, getting the experience I need to eventually get hired in a hospital. While its not the job I wanted, it IS a job, and you can't beat getting a paycheck!

Ok here goes. Hello to all the Missouri nurses out there. I have been a LPN since 1997. I lived in the Saint Charles Missouri area for about 30 yrs. I currently reside in a small town called Palmyra in Missouri. I love living here just cant make a living here. I moved here 6yrs ago after getting married to a man from Palmyra. Its still in the state of Missouri but my wages as a LPN have been cut in half. Here is my questions? When I went to nursing school the IV class was not included so I am not Iv cert. The only place I can find that will iv cert me is interlock pharm in St. Louis but thats a 2hr drive and gas cost so much now. Does anyone out there know anywhere closer? Now I also live close to Quincy Illinois and was wanting to get a Illinois license. I have a compact multistate license. If I apply for endorsement to Illinois and get a Illinois license will I still have my compact multi Missouri license? Im not moving to Illinois just want to be able to work there. Please help!

Hello. I'm new to these forums. I'm an RN living and working in Central Tx. Recently married a Missouri man and am just wondering what nursing is like in Missouri. Currently I am working for Seton Family of Hospitals in the Austin area and our max is 5pts/nurse. Thank goodness we have finally started moving toward a safer ratio, though we're not there yet. Studies show that mortality rates increase when a registered nurse exceeds 4 pts on a medical-surgical unit. Anyways, I'd love to hear your input on nursing in Mo. Especially the Springfield area.
