transition from ltc to acute hospital rn

I have been told by a recruiter at on facility, that if someone starts out at a ltc, it is very hard to get onto a hospital. This is because they all want acute hospital experience which you wont get at a ltc facility. Has anyone started out at a ltc and went to work at a hospital. Is it a mistake to start out at a ltc or should I hold out for a hospital position?
