Penn Valley RN Program

I actually just got into that program as of Friday and I am turning down the spot. It has to be by far the most unorganized and unproffessional program I have ever applied to. I would recommend applying anywhere else you can get into. Yes you will need micro, and live in district and a good GPA. I had a 6.25 total in points, I hear that anything lower than 6pts need not apply, a 80% overall on the TEAS. I was just informed that they would not be having a night/weekend program after I was accepted. So I paid to take the TEAS, Back ground checks, CPR cert. You name I did it and then they tell me there is not a night and weekend program untill 2011 and I would have to retake the COMPASS and the TEAS. This is probably something they should have mentioned before I did all these things. If thats how poorly they handle the application process I can only imagine how poorly run their program is. Hope this helps, I would hate for someone to have gone through what I did.

hi im applying to the night program but the teas is insane hard I thought we just had to pass not get atleast 80% im super confused can someone who actually knows please clearify --I have all 7 points and Im just worried that I will not score high on the teas Ive studied the booklet but dont know if it uses the same questions and im a 4.0 student and have done horriable on the pretest 60% blaaa---I need answers please help:nurse:

I graduated from Penn Valley. My understanding was if you had over 6 points and passed the TEAS you were in, that is what happened to me. The program can seem unorganized at times, I think due too the recent up tick in growth. But, I am very happy with the education I received and overall enjoyed the experience. But I am older and this is my second career (I also have another degree), so I took some of the lack of organization as growing pains and got what I put into it. By the way, the night/evening program always starts on odd years, is my understanding.

I got in with I think points of 3.64 or something, and turned down the spot. I'm not entirely sure they go strictly be the points though. That seems pretty low compared to over 6. I have a good educational history with 2 degrees under my belt, and all the coinciding courses and prereqs finished already, and high TEAS scores. I think that out weighed my "points", but I could be wrong.

I got into a better program at a better school before I was accepted at Penn Valley. Its more expensive but i'm 1/2 way in now, and I wouldn't have even started the Penn Valley until Fall 11

The evening class always starts in odd years... sounds like it wasn't the school that was unorganized lol.

For starters there is no way to get into Penn Valley with 3 something points maybe u meant that was your GPA plus points.....for the day not having six means theres a very slim chance u will get in for the nights if you dont have 7 points .....good luck - points are based on gpa so if u have a 4.0 thats 4pts micro passing with atleast a c gives u an extra point and being in district and having Cna lics or currently working gives u the final 7th point. Penn Valley is an awesome school then you can get ur BSN on PV campus thru mo west. Once you get accepted by points u must then pass the TEAS its hard I wont lie - the national average is 60% all PV requires is that u pass with a 53% not an 80 percent that is not true! Good luck this worl needs nurses that are intellegent and great with people ....if your not a person that can wear a smile 24/7 consider looking for a new career. Sorry to sound harsh just cant stand people that get into nursing for all the wrong reasons and severly lack people skills -- sick people have their own attitude they dont need a rude un sympethetic nurses- :nurse:

I recently applied to MCC with an interest in the RN program. I'm basically just starting the whole process. I haven't taken any prerequisites yet. I'm not sure what classes I need to take, I tried calling to get more information but didn't get much help. I was wondering how long it would take me to complete all requirements before I can apply. I've also read many reviews that say it's extremely tough to get in. I'm most definitely willing to work as hard as it takes. Any information or advice is greatly appreciated!

Havent seen a post on this thread for awhile. Has anyone out there applied for the Jan 2012 Semester RN program and heard anything? I received a postcard about 2 weeks ago stating they were delayed, and when I called no one seemed to know anything. I can certainly understand the delay, and am being patient, but atleast some kind of time frame would be nice to know.

did you apply for days or nights??They recvd 500 applications and thats whats taking so long usually they recv about 250 so they were not prepared
