MO Rehab in Mt. Vernon

U.S.A. Missouri

Published

Does anyone have any experience with this institution? It is owned by the University of Missouri Health Care systems. The campus is beautiful, but if it is within one-half hour of Springfield, why do they need so many RN's? Any experiences would be appreciated.

Thank you,

If I had to take a guess...I would say it's hard to compete with Springfield/Joplin hospitals and their nursing shortage as well and Mt. Vernon is in the middle. They are always advertising for nurses and it's mainly because "who wants to work in Mt. Vernon when you can work in Springfield and make X amount".

I love Mt. Vernon. I lived outside of there for 5 years. It is a beautiful town, within driving distance to TONS of places but still a small town which I think is awesome.

We now live by the Arkansas boarder, love it there too :)

Thank you for the feedback and I think Mount Vernon is a beautiful area too...I live near the AR border too and I love it even better. We are on Table Rock Lake-trying to start that retirement in our forties...lol. It is a terrific place to live, but you have to drive a distance for work...giving up something to live in this beautiful natural environment is worth it to me. I really haven't been too impressed with the Springfield community and definitely not the pay rate. I am working agency now in Missouri.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Barbara

We live southeast of Joplin near the border. It's almost closer for me to work in Rogers or Bentonville than it is anywhere in Missouri - Rogers is about 25 mins.

We live about 15 miles from the west side of Table Rock - so I bet we don't live very far from you :)

I'm just now starting my ADN program in Jan. so I still have a couple of years yet before I'm really going to have to hit the job market but I've been looking and keeping an eye out for something while I'm in school. So far I may have a poss. with Freeman in Neosho for a Student Nurse which is good since I'll be going to school in Neosho already.
