Cant find a job so I am going to let license expire

  1. 0 I am unable to find a job. I was told by a recruiter at the hospital I worked at as a tech, that it was decided I was to work at a nursing home. I dont know who decided this and if it is even legal. I am almost positive that my old manager whom said to me that she does not like male nurses has done this. I once told her I had no desire to work at a nursing home and this is her evil way of getting back at men. I am looking into suing ba . Until then I will let my license expire so that I can work in a hospital.

I don't understand what you mean by "I will let my license expire so that I can work in a hospital," but I encourage you not to do this. It can be much harder (and more expensive) to get a license back if you've let it lapse than just to keep the license active.

Well, by gosh, you show her. Let the license that you worked so hard for expire and you keep working as a tech or a waiter or whatever else it is you're planning on doing.

That sure beats applying to any of the other numerous hospitals in this region or other areas and getting a job as NURSE which is what you worked so hard to do.

That's the way to work around her evil ways. You go!!

So a job opportunity appears, (after all it has to appear because you aren't looking anymore), and it goes to someone else because you don't have time to reactivate your license. You're using faulty logic to arrive at this poor decision. Oh, and BTW, there is nothing to stop your Board from making it impossible for someone to reactivate a lapsed license in your state. They can make any changes they wish to the process at any time. Keep that in mind. You need to realize that a secondary reason to obtain and maintain a nursing license is to be ABLE to obtain employment when one's life circumstances change. You are shortchanging yourself of this opportunity if you allow that license to lapse.

What you only have one hospital? One hiring manager for the one unit? I don't get it! Why would you let one stupid womans opinion of where you should work make you let your license lapse. Hello. What a rediculous idea.....if you would do that because of one bad experience or opinion and not because you have had a chance to experience being a nurse and actually hate it...then maybe you don't really want to be a nurse or care about being one to bother. Maybe she right.........this is the impression you are giving by reacting this way....so if not true then you seriously need to rethink this. It shows you as being impulsive, irrational and having poor insight and judgement.......if you want to be a nurse....then be one!!!!

It is very disappointing to experience unemployment. Only employed for more than 3 months once that was not by choice. This economy and this job market for new nurses leaves ones options few. I will keep my rn license and:typing:typing:typing will continue to search for employment.

Just because times are hard does not leave you without options. I hear a very frustrated individual that needs to re-evaluate his options and make himself stop letting people determine his path.

You can't find a job where you live?....move.
A person told you to give up?...dismiss their inconsiderate remarks and stand up for what you worked so hard for in the first place.

I hear that you are looking for understanding and consideration but man, you have to be willing to stand up for what rights you want...no one gives you anything for nothing and sometimes you pay with a lot of grief in order to get what you want and needed to function as a human in this world.

If you don't get a position, ask the hiring manager why you were not chosen. If she said you were destined for nursing home work, ask why. If her requirements can be met with training, sign up. If it is because someone else had more experience, then accept the fact that they may have been better for the job and that THERE is a job out there waiting. BUT don't get up every morning and tell yourself that people think you will amount to nothing, because eventually you will come to think it. For now, do what you can or are already doing to make a living(legal), and work on some introspection to help you understand what may be standing in your way. Job hunting sucks because the longer it takes, the longer it forces you to look at yourself and sort through your strengths and weaknesses. Life gets to you and sometimes people forget what they started it for in the first place. Just hang tough because your day is coming...you may just have to bust your a#$ more than others to get it and if so, well just do it. God won't give you more than you can handle and you are going to become a better man because of these struggles.
