Anyone attending cox college

U.S.A. Missouri

I was wondering if anyone on here is going to cox college nursing program. :heartbeat

Hi there. I'm currently getting ready to start my 3rd semester at Cox. :)

I didn't see where you mentioned which nursing track you were going to be starting later this month. I'm in the BSN-Accelerated track, and it moves a lot faster than the ASN or BSN-Entry, but they are all intense.

As far as organization, there is a bit lacking in that department, however, I would venture to say that other schools are often dealing with the same issues. I would compare it to the working world - no matter what industry you enter or company you work for, you are bound to have experiences that frustrate you. If you go into it with an open mind, a good attitude, and the decision that you are determined to make the best out of whatever you are given, you will be more than fine. Just remember that, as with most experiences, you get out what you put in.

I will say that I feel very well prepared so far. I will also mention, however, that I forced myself to get out of the habit of learning how to study just to get the grades, and into the habit of thinking "like a nurse." It's served me well, and was worth the extra work. I would encourage you to do the same. :)

I'm not on the board much (between the program, family and work, I have my hands full!), but feel free to reply or private message me if there's anything I can help you with or if you have specific questions.

Best of luck!

Good luck to you, I am actually repeating some sciences because they are old but I am ok with it. I agree with you about the school but everyone is very nice there. I am excited to start though, wish syllabus was available so I knew what chapters to read. Did you take any pre recs at cox's?

I took all of my pre-reqs at Cox - I also had to retake all of my sciences because they were too old - I got my first degree nearly 10 years ago! In hindsight, I wish I would have taken them at OTC, but for nothing more than the cost difference. $99/credit hour at OTC would have been a lot nicer than $300/credit hour! However, at the time, I felt that perhaps taking my pre-reqs at Cox would increase my chances of getting in the program. I doubt I would have had problems, as long as I kept my GPA as high. Between the GPA and interview, I would have been fine.

Hindsight is always 20/20. :)

Well so far I like the classes here at cox even with the cost. It seems like the classes are focused on nurses even sociological is focused on nursing concepts.

Hi Jennifer C,

I have applied and been interviewed for the Cox BSN-A program set to start in January and I noticed that you are in that same program. Would I be able to ask you some questions about the program if you have a moment? Thanks.

Hi Jennifer,

I just got accepted to the BSN-A for this January and was wondering about working. I know they hightly discourage working. I only work 2 days a week anyway. Just wondering how intensive the program is from your perspective. Also what is the schedule like?

Thanks

Astraly,

I also applied to the BSN-A program at Cox scheduled to start this January, but have not heard any news. When did you find out? How were you notified? Thanks.

Hi Psyc Guy,

I found out on Tuesday. I got a certified letter in the mail. You might call if you have still not heard anything because if you did get in and just didn't get the letter yet there are things to complete by 10/21.

Good Luck!

Hello guys,

I just got my letter with my advisor name yesterday. I am in the ASN program starting in Jan. I wanted the BSN program but was lacking a couple of prereqs for it so I went with ASN so I could just get started now. I'm excited. I don't live in springfield as of yet so the next few months will be busy but I'm excited!

Congrats!! If you don't mind what was your gpa?

Hmm, not 100% sure but I think it was around 3.5. Give or take a couple tenths of a point.
