Need help deciding which school to attend

U.S.A. Mississippi

Hello!

I'm currently a student Mississippi College. If everything goes well, I'll be entering nursing school in the Fall. I recently went to UMC to get information about there nursing program and found out that they are SOOOO much cheaper than MC. Like, thousands of dollars cheaper. The only down side is that now UMC had 5 semesters instead of 4 semesters, and also, their next class that starts is not until May (their Fall class is already full). Their spring semester doesn't start in January like most schools. What would you guys do in my situation? Do you think there are any advantages to staying at Mississippi College. I hear a lot of people say that MC students are vigorously recruited, but I know that UMC is a very good institution.....but not starting until May is kind of a hard pill to swallow. :uhoh3: Any suggestions?

I've always heard good things about MC in general, but I know that it is terribly expensive! So, you are already accepted to begin in the fall there, though?

I've also heard good things about UMC - big teaching hospital, lots of opportunities.

I think it'd be a pretty personal decision to make. I know that for me, I would probably have to sit out the year as the cost of attending MC would be prohibitive for me. If you are in a financial situation where you are able to attend the nursing program there without going deeply into debt, I'd say go for it! Good luck making your decision! :)

I personally am completing semester 3 out of 5 at MUW's BSN program (in Columbus). PM me if I can help in any sort of way! Always love hearing from other Mississippians. :)

No, we won't know until the end of the summer semester. They do give priority to students who have been there since their freshman year, and I did do well on the NLN, so I hope that will help me some. I guess I should cross that bridge when I get there, but if I am accepted I would sure hate having to wait and see if UMC accepts me and then on top of that waiting until May of 2006 to start. I guess I could always start with MC and then try and transfer over to UMC. I don't know....as it stands right now, after the loans I still ended up owing MC 1500.00. :uhoh3: But next year (fall of 2006) my income will be lower and I should qualify for grants.

I guess I'm counting my eggs before they're hatched.:rotfl: Thanks for the advice, it's a lot to think about. It is good talking to others from Mississippi. I wish there were more of us on this site. We should get the word out!:yelclap:

I did get accepted to Mississippi College for Fall 2005. So I guess my decision has been made!:balloons:

Congrats! and.. good luck! :) :) :)
