Hi, I wanted to ask if anyone knew about the waitlist for Hinds LPN program? I have applied and was wondering if anyone has either been on their waitlist or knows anything about how it works. Thanks... :D

Hi,

I started the Hinds LPN program in January. Before classes started we had an orientation where accepted students, such as myself, and waitlisted students attended. After everyone signed in they announced that everyone there was going to be in our class, including those who were waitlisted! In total we have 36 people in our class and have a couple of seats open, so I am thinking 40 people is the max for the Rankin Campus. Message me if you have any questions!

thanks. i asked (moderator edit of name) about the rankin campus. she said they have smaller class sizes so i decided to apply to the jackson campus, it's a little bit further for me as i am in ridgeland.

i hope the same thing happens in regards to the jackson campus in regards to everyone getting in.

i took my net test this morning and was told the deadline was march 31st. hopefully i will either get in or on a waitlist.

are you a full time student? if so what time does school begin and end? any other info about the process of getting in and being in school would help. thanks so much..:D

yes, I am a full time student, you have to be. This is the schedule for this semester: monday 8-4 ,with an hour off for lunch, class lecture day tuesday 8-12 class lecture, wednesday 7:30-12 skills lab, thursday 7:30-12 skills lab, friday 7:30-9:30 math class with an optional skills lab from 10-12. So, most days are 1/2 days but you have to utilize your time and study after class every day to keep up. Some people do work, but most do not. You will have no time for anything else except school! Good luck!

That's not a bad schedule, I have a nine year old and was curious what the hours were. Those will work great.

NET test results are supposed to be on myhinds.com tomorrow, we will see how well I did.. :uhoh21:

Thanks for answering all my questions Lizzy... :D

Good luck, please message me if you have any other questions. I know how it feels to need answers!

Thanks Lizzy, I tried messaging you yesterday ( as I still have many questions), but I think I have to upgrade to do that.

Are you applying for LPN? If so I know selection is based on who gets all there stuff in first and you can call and find out where you are on the waiting list.

I have heard Vicksburg is getting alot of people applying to there campus.

I've been accepted and am starting at the Rankin campus in Jan.

I don't see why you wouldn't do RN?

LPN's are becoming harder to find jobs. My mom is a Nurse manager over at St. Dominics and I told her about this LPN-to-RN transition thing and she told me, "No, no way in hell your going to do that. It's not the same education. I won't let you do that. Either RN or no nurse."

So RN it is for me then!

When I first thought about applying to nursing school I found out that the RN wait was longer than the LPN. So I went for LPN.

I have spoken to alot of RN's who say I wish I had started off being an LPN (lot's more clinical). In fact the RN that stuck me full of shots today said the same thing.

It's all in what you decide. There are jobs, maybe not in hospitals for LPN's but there are jobs. And while I work as an LPN I will move onto RN whether it be the bridge program at Hinds or Excelsior online.. :D
