Anyone else accepted to Hinds CC in January 2007

Hey everyone! I just received my acceptance letter to Hinds for January 2007 and was just wondering if anyone else here would be attending as well!

Congradulations to you.:balloons: I get happy when I hear that others get accepted into nursing school. That will be me some day. I am going to apply to hinds for the fall 2007-2008 class. Tell me what you have to do to get accepted. I am going to take the ACT in December. What is the best score to make? Do you know how many points you get for your grade point average, ACT etc? I want to get in without any problems. I have taken A & P I and II, Sociology, English I & II, College Algebra and Literature. I did pretty well in those classes. What did you make on your ACT and Math and Reading Subscores? I have taken the ACT last year and made an 18 composite, and a 19 on my reading and math subscores, but I know I need to take it again to be competitive. Do you know of any ACT workshops?

I will be praying for you to make it through nursing school. Study hard and remember that you can do all things through Christ Jesus.

Thanks for your support! Every little bit helps. This is the first time that I applied to Hinds and I had an overall score of 21 on the ACT...I had an 18 in Math, 21 in Reading and 23 in Science and and 20 in English. I have a previous degree in business so, I have taken most of the other required courses in the program with the exception of English Comp II and Human Growth and Development.

I am not aware of any of the ACT workshops, but am sure that you can contact any of the area schools.

Congratulations deafcricket and 601Wondering!

I'm nervous about starting school at Hinds, but I just keep praying that every thing will work out. I am just looking forward to this semester being over so that we can "get this show on the road". I have several friends that have graduated from Hinds, so I know it's possible! All is takes it hard work and lots of determination.

I'm looking forward to the orientation/registration on the 15th of November!

Congrats ya'll.............and welcome to hell. lol I wish I could say I was kidding. I just graduated on the 15th and couldn't be happier. But don't let me scare you. It is possible, it just takes alot of work and it will wear on your nerves. Also you will leave school knowing that you are very capable of working in almost any hospital situation. Me and another fellow graduate are starting out at UMC ER and I am not scared one bit, because I know I got the tools to be great.

Thanks and congrats to you, Chris85...but, I've been scared since the day I got my acception letter! I have heard about how hard Hinds was, but they just want you to be competent upon graduation and you have confirmed that.

Do you have any suggestions or tips that could help prepare for first semester?

Well my first semester was easy, but they have since changed it and made it a little bit harder. First off you gotta be dedicated and hit the books hard right at the beginning of each semester. If you start out doing bad, then it will be hard to make up for it later. Another thing is to go get a Lippincott NCLEX review book and learn how to answer the questions. These questions are unlike anything you've ever seen before. You have to learn a whole new way of thinking to answer them. If you don't take good notes, find someone that does and study with them cus they probably wrote down something that you missed during the lecture. Note cards help, if you can find the time to do them and study them. And lastly READ, READ, READ! If you get behind on your reading then it is hard to catch up, so get a routine going and stick to it. Some people say it is better to read before class, which is mainly a personal thing. If it helps you then do it, if it doesn't then don't bother. I did it most of the time and I think it helped me cus some of these teachers (so called) suck......and can't teach. Thats about all I can think of, but mainly you just gotta find what right for you and what is the best way that you learn.
