Why are the nurses in MS paid so low?? or are the people on this board just looking at the wrong companies??

I think a lot has to do with cost of living in Conn vs Miss. Check out a cost of living comparison calculator online. I looked at
http://www.bankrate.com/calculators/...alculator.aspx And a search of Norwalk, Ct Vs. Jackson,MS is a 32% difference. So for your $60k in Conn. you'd only need about $39K here in MS to live at the same level. Housing prices are much lower as are groceries, gas and other living expenses. I think though, that if you have the experience you should be able to get much more than these starting salaries (listed from up to 3 years ago).
p.s. I am not currently a nurse but considering the career. I've done a lot of research on starting salaries as that is a major concern for me in possibly changing careers.
