Not sure if this was directed at me or who, but if you're interested in where I'm working just send me a PM, I'd be happy to chat about it but prefer not to post here.

lisadlpn2brn,
If you live in Newton, you should consider working at Rankin Medical Center in Brandon. Especially considering gas prices! ! ! ! Not sure about the pay, but have heard it is comparable to all other hospitals in Jackson and Rankin is a great place to work- especially as a new nurse.

Any suggestions of where a new LPN can look for a job around Jackson?

Hi! I know this might be a little late, but I was recently hired by UMC in Jackson. RN Graduates that did NOT extern with UMC start out at $18.50. Evening Diff is $22.00, Night - $23.00, Weekend Day - $22.00, Weekend Evening - $24.00, and Weekend Nights - $25.00. This is straight from a brochure we were given. I haven't started yet, so I guess I'll find out soon enough! -Jenn

Pay is much higher here on the coast for a new grad, $20.79 at Gulfport Memorial. But I've been comparing the housing markets, our houses cost more, so that's probably the trade off....

If you prefer LTC or some Home Health facilities that would be an option they tend to pay more than most hospitals, but if your desire is to later upgrade to an RN I would strongly suggest the hospital the experience and exposure is priceless

I wanted to move back to MS, but all this pay talk is scary. I know Connecticut is a lot richer than MS but starting pay here is around $60,000 and I know some LPNs that make $100,000 a year just from working a little overtime. Why are the nurses in MS paid so low?? or are the people on this board just looking at the wrong companies??
