  1. ladies I wonder what my chances are after receiving a denial into the LPN program due to past course performance. I currently have for the past year turned myself around from two years ago I have a 4.0 gpa, retook the classes I dropped or failed in the past and got As and they still denied me. I have all generals finished and really don't want to waste time and money taking classes that don't apply to nursing just to prove myself when I don't have to shouldn't all my As and two Bs in generals speak for itself? Also great TEAS scores and 6 years as a CNA at the same nursing home? I'm so at a loss my past has played a role in my present rejection and I feel its unfair I explained my dropped and failed courses and I have figured out why and changed my learning strategies and how many classes I take at once and I prevailed! They don't know my struggle with 3 kids and a full time job I had hard times but I'm older now and have redeemed myself what can I do to be reconsidered? What are some schools that may take someone like me with a past?
  2. That's a hard question. Like I have said earlier in prior posts the St. Kates program is probably the "easiest" program to get into. If you are willing to spend the money you can most likely get in there. It'll be 3x the price, but if it's your only choice what can you do? Also the good thing about their program is they offer nights and weekends (I have heard, also I am talking about their two year nursing program RN), which would be helpful with 3 kids and a full time job. Some colleges do not look at the second grade if you retake the class, that's another thing to consider.
Also I would not recommend going for LPN. The only place you will get a job is a nursing home and the pay is not good at all from what I have heard....
    Good luck to you!
  3. Well it looks like I will be submitting my app to ST. Kates before the deadline coming up hope i am not too late thanks for the help!

I was planning on going to St. Kate's as well, but they denied me for the ADN because of a failing grade from 3 years ago and I had a W from a year ago. They told me I could reapply in 2015. At the same time, the Bachelor program accepted me and then a week later sent me a letter stating I could not enter their nursing program from the W and failing grade from the past. I wouldn't put all your eggs in one basket. Check out other places as well. Good luck!!

A&P and Micro. I'm retaking them but I'm going to try to apply to a community college this year.
  7. You should check out the BSN program at National American University (NAU) in Bloomington, MN. My friend applied there and she got into the program, easily. Her TEAS score and GPA was decent. Check it out and see if you like it. It is a private small school. However, I believe the application process is already done and students have already been selected. If you have more questions, let me know. =) Hope that helps!

I took the A&P 1 there wanting to get into the program but I didn't like the school. Thanks for your help though! :-)
  9. I too am getting ready to apply at Century and North Hennepin. As I am coming from out of state, I could not take the classes at either of the schools for preference. However, the school told me it is only worth one point in their point system, so I am confused as to how it actually plays out.
I am looking into all the options, including apply for LPN programs at the same time so I have a program to start next fall. Any thoughts on St. Paul?

    Thanks!
  10. I went to an info session on St. Kate's Mpls. campus ASN program. They accept you into pre-nursing to get your pre-reqs done and the math req is different than other schools. I'm looking into getting some pre-reqs done before starting, but they are still accepting folks for spring, feb of 13.
    Good luck!
