Returning to RN Work

U.S.A. Minnesota

Published

Hi, it is my first time here and I am very excited. I have been reading alot of posts on this website. I have found them very helpful. I am hoping someone can help me with my situation.

I graduate 3 years ago with my BSN. I don't have any patient care experience. Since graduation, I have been a stay at home mom. Now, I am ready to get out there and start my career, but how do I start? I have a resume and cover letter ready. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to start? I don't mine LTC. That is where I prefer to work. I want a place that is new grad RN friendly as well since I am considered a new grad RN right?

In addition, since I don't have any experience will it hurt me from getting a RN job? What can I do to show HR/managers know that I am willing to work as an RN?

Any help will be appreciated!!

Target,

I do not know how much being out of school/nursing for 3 years will impact your job search. I hear that most hospitals want recent experience but LTC is more flexible.

If you have trouble finding a job, you might want to look into taking an RN Refresher course. Normandale Community College Continuing Education Dept. has a course. It lasts for two months. There may be others around town as well.

Good luck,
