Both passers and failers will end up getting about 50% right and 50% wrong. If you start getting much higher or lower than 50%, the computer will adjust the difficulty level of the questions accordingly. What matters is the difficulty level of the questions you're getting. The candidates who get 50% of the harder questions will make it, but if you're missing 50% of the very easy ones, you won't. Make sense?

If you haven't been to www.ncsbn.org and read the 2006 NCLEX Candidate Bulletin, I highly recommend it. The first step to passing is to understand the exam itself.

    Good luck!

When I took my LPN boards, the minimum was 85 questions - if you had answered greater than 50% correct at that point, the system shut down (which happened to me!). I think the number is a bit higher for the RN boards.

Check with me in January after I take them!

Currently, the NCLEX score/cutoff point is not based on the percentage correct, as everyone gets around 50%. It's based on the difficulty level of the questions. Once the computer is sure that you're scoring 50% on high level questions, it shuts off. The minimum number of questions for PN is still 85, while it's 75 for RN.

    Greetings!

So in response to passing either 50% of really hard questions right, or 50% of really easy questions wrong... would you say that if I felt like the last 10 or so questions on my test were exceedingly hard, it's a good sign? I just took my boards this morning and it shut right off at 75.... (Is that usually a good sign too?)

    Thanks so much!

I think it is great sign that you felt the last ten questions were difficult. However, you can pass or fail at 75 or 250 questions. So 75 can be really good or really bad. BUT for the most part it seems that people who get 75 questions usually pass. Let us know if you passed!!!

    GOOD LUCK,

I took my LPN test yesterday. It was harder that my RN test which I failed. It shut off on the 85th question. With my experience on my RN test, I encountered same questions so many times. It ended on the 75th question. I was really surprised that a lot of Select All that Appply question & prioritization came up on LPN test yesterday. I'm scared w/ the results. Is there anybody who knows how I can check the result asap? CA has no quick results from pearsonvue. Any website? Do I have to wait for a minimum of a week? Thanks!

    www.pearsonvue.com/signin/

Go to this website and type your login Id and password, under the recent activity you will see your result, if this result is available now, you have to pay $8 to get unofficial result.

    good luck

everyone keeps saying that their computer stopped on '85' or it stopped on '205'. what if your computer turned off in between '85-205'? i know that its hard to tell if you passed or not but has anyone stopped in between those numbers & still passed? :uhoh21:

I passed my MN RN boards with 120 questions. There were women in my orientation group that passed with more questions.

I passed RN Boards in May w/ about 100 questions. The speed w/ which it was suddenly over (and the computer shut down) was a bit unnerving though...

Yeah, it is a bit unnerving. I remember question 76 coming up, and feeling like I was going to throw up in my mouth - I could feel myself start to panic a bit. Took a few deep breaths, kept going. When the 2-hour "do you want to take a break" screen came up, I kept going. When the blue screen popped up after question 120, I nearly cried - I was mentally exhausted.

You know how they take a picture of you before you go in? There should be one taken AFTER you're finished - the "Before/After" pics would be priceless.

I went home, cried since I figured I'd failed, then I went to a yarn shop and bought some tasty expensive yarn and chilled out!
