Entry level questions

U.S.A. Minnesota

Hello! I am interested in getting my foot wet while I decide what I really want to go to school for as I am interested in health field and would like experience. I don't know if there are any short term training jobs in the health field other than cna or where I can train this spring/summer. Can you get into the hospital with cna training? If you start in the nursing home can you get into the hospital easily or vice versa? What do you prefer nursing home or hospital? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much and have a great day! You deserve it!

Some hospitals will hire those without a CNA certification/course and provide on the job training- my facility calls those positions patient care assistants. There's also the option of working as a unit clerk (some places still refer to them as unit secretaries or use other such terminology). It also wouldn't hurt to browse the job openings at facilities in your area and see what the minimum requirements are for applying.

I have CNA training and work at a hospital as a patient care assistant. I did not work in long term care before working in the hospital. As the previous poster stated. Search through different locations that you might want to work at and look for entry level positions and see what the requirements are. Good luck!
