Advice about job offer!

Hello!

Please I need help here. I don't know what to do after an interview. First, let me tell you the whole story.

I had an interview in a hospital the last week of September. The interview was great and the unit manager finished the interview saying " I am sure we'll see each other soon" Great! - I thought. 2 weeks after that, the recruiter calls me and tells me that the are offering me a job. She said to send her all the hours I have worked since I graduated, and that she will have a written job offer next day or the day after. I did it that same day, and then....silence for a week! So a week after that conversation I called her back. She said that she was sorry, but that the unit manager told her to hold off on the offer. She said that I could call her next week. I did so, and she said that the unit manager still wants to interview more people. She told me to call in 2 weeks, that will be next Friday.

What should I do? It's a great hospital, but they have been very unprofessional and I want to push them a little, I really want that job!

I know, because the manager told me so, that they have several openings sure to re-desing of of floor.

Please advice! It's like a dream job, and a great opportunity...

Be patient, professional and stay on their radar :) Good luck!

Sounds like something similar to what I went through recently, although I won't mention which Twin Cities area hospital it was...

I had a phone interview/pre screen. That went well. Then I had an interview with the unit manager. She seemed interested, and said to keep in touch with the nurse recruiter and I should find out in a week or two. I sent thank you emails to both the manager and recruiter and the recruiter assured me I would hear back soon "either way". I gave the recruiter my references info, they were contacted and the recruiter emailed back saying "everything looks good".

Two weeks went by and I heard nothing. I contacted the recruiter asking for an update and was told "I am still waiting to hear back from the manager, but don't get discouraged. I will let you know as soon as I hear back."

Two more weeks, still no word. I emailed again. The recruiter told me this time that the position was under review and actually might be eliminated due to "floor changes". I was told again to just be patient, and if that floor didn't work out, I would be referred on to other positions within the hospital.

Two weeks later (you get the point)....I still have heard nothing! I have since gone on and interviewed at another hospital and got hired there, but I am pretty appalled by the hiring practices of this hospital. It makes me glad it didn't work out. I wouldn't want to work for an organization that treats its prospective employees that way and seems so disorganized.

I read online somewhere to give a company 6 weeks (8 weeks if you REALLY want to work there) from the interview date. And if you havent heard back from them within that time, write the job AND the entire company off. That is my advice to you. In the meantime, follow up quickly and politely once every two weeks.

Thanks! It is indeed terrible the way some hospitals manage their hiring process... I guess if I don't hear anything possitive tomorrow, when I am planing to give them my last call, I will forget about the whole thing...
