Re: MSN degree at Metro State?
Hi, I was looking at Mankato, too. Sadly, they are canceling their ABSN program for Fall 2010 and they said Fall 2011 is a maybe depending on budget. I wish there were more options for people like us. Surprisingly, ADN programs have a really long wait, two years sometimes if you're waitlisted. They prefer people who took their prereqs at their school and have some CNA or other healthcare experience. St. Kate's has a post-baccalaureate program where you can start out in the program without any prereqs - however they too are not accepting applications until next year due to lack of space.
Not to be downer, don't give up if it's really something you want to do. I am still continuing. Metro State seems like a great option, you should talk to their admissions counselor. I am still doing prereqs and won't apply till next fall for nursing schools. There's always the option of going the traditional BSN route, too if you have the money and time.
