Thanks for the info, if you know of any contacts I'd appreciate it. I can't seem to find much information about the program on their website. Might be something I need to contact HR about? Thanks again!!

You can contact HR or if you go to the website, you can get each unit's manager's number and call them directly. All of the critical care areas of the hospital have the same critical care classes and then each unit has their own orientation.

They use the Ecco program as part of their class time.

I know that Tampa General Hospital has a critical care internship program. You spend one month (maybe 6 wks... not quite sure) in a classroom setting. Then you are assigned to a ICU for 6 months. You can orient for the enitre 6 months if you need it or get off earlier if you are ready. Then you are rotated every 10 wks to different units. I've heard of a lot of nurses just leaving the program if they get offered a job in a unit that they were in. The ICUs that it goes through include Surg/ Trauma ICU, Cardio-Thoracic Surgergy, MICU, Nero, Cardiac, and vascular.

I don't know if you're still looking but many hospitals in Cali offer ICU internships; many specifically new grad. UCSF and Stanford hospitals both do (I've looked into them myself). Someone else posted that Northwestern Mem. Hospital has one but I've been working there for almost 2 yrs and have not seen this. While they will accept new grads there is no structured internship program (only for the OR so far). Good luck.

Come to University of Rochester, Strong Memorial Hospital. In the SICU!
We have an extended orientation for new grads and extend it if they struggle. Which is expected because they are NEW!
Free access to the AACN ICU training computer network.

Come, get trained then you can work for me one night when I need a switch!
We are short staffed and have a great crew.
We won't eat you.

Johns Hopkins has a new grad ICU program. I've been looking into it and it seems pretty intense. It's called the SPRING program so you might want to look it up on their website.

University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore hires lots of new grads for their ICU's.
