ICU nurse offered job in PCU - should I take it?

  1. 0
    Long story short:

I've been a MICU nurse for 3 years (my entire nursing career). Recently got my CCRN.

My wife and I have been seeking to relocate across the country. Haven't had much of any response from ICU jobs where I've applied. However I've applied for PCU jobs as well and received an offer at a great hospital.

Should I take it? Why/why not?

Do you need the job before you relocate, or do youvhave the savings to be ok while you look for a job? If you have the savings, how long can you wait?

Do you absolutely LOVE ICU, are yoy one of ? Us adrenaline junkies? What kind of a PCU? Full time or do you have room to look for part time ICU? Will yoy keep looking for an ICU position while you work at the PCU? Have you looked into ED or flight nursing if you have the needed experience?

I wouldn't, but that's just me. I moved 400 miles just to get an ICU job out of school, so I am obviously passionate about where I work. So - are you passionate enough about ICU to deal with the uncertainty for a bit? If you are, then wait. If not, well... you have a job offer! You may be able to transfer into ICU at that facility later if you put your foot in the door in PCU now.

Wow that's what I get when I try to post from my phone when I'm not awake, a post full of typos and oddly placed question marks. Thanks for being gacious everyone!
