ICU Externship! HELP!!

  1. 0
I'm a 2nd year RN student and I was just accepted for a 10 week summer externship in the ICU.

I'm really excited, but very nervous, because we don't have ICU rotations until the 4th semester. They wouldn't have chosen me if they didn't think that i could handle it, plus I'll have 2 preceptors instead of one (2 nurses share assignments in our ICU), but I'd like to take these 2 weeks before the assignment starts to prep and review and learn the basics of what I need to know..

what should I focus on? what should I know for the ICU?

Congratulations on your externship! I start in the ICU as an extern next week. Thank you for asking such a great question which lead to good resources. Thank you, Siri!

I just finished my second year in nursing school and I am doing a preceptorship in the ICU. I love it! I am learning and doing so much. I think it is the best place to get alot of experience. My preceptor is so great, she has so much energy and wants to teach me as much as I care to learn. You should have a great experience.
