Future of wireless monitoring?

I wonder how the future will be without all the wires? Is there technology available or in the making for (let's say) continuous noninvasive blood pressure monitoring? I always think about this when I see the open heart patients coming back from the CVOR. I don't do open hearts yet but just getting your regular ICU patient OOB for ambulation can be a chore.

I have heard it can already be done but who can afford it? Not sure. As economics allow, I definitely think it's the future of the ICU.

All it takes is for one Bright Person to do a study showing how to do it, and How much money can be saved by doing so.

I joke constantly when I work ER and ICU that all I need to do is convice someone to back the idea of wireless monitoring and i could retire lol. I hate having to hook up patients and rearrange cords constantly.

A lot of the technology is there, but the ability to secure such wireless networks isn't. It's tough to get wireless technology in the medical device realm through FDA approval.
