bedside computer charting

In a few months we will be moving to a new hospital with the
computers we use to chart on at the bedside in 4 of our ICU
rooms, we are apprehensive about this and have many concerns
including being stuck in room charting making us less aware of
what is happening on the rest of the unit we usually have from
2-4 patients sometimes 5. In this situation there will be no one
watching the monitors most of the shift and we will have to rely
on alarms and recall. We will also be unable to monitor traffic
in the unit and this can be a problem since we are open to visitors
Does anyone have any experience with this and how does it
work for you?
