Accepted Position in SICU

Updated Apr 02, 2007 at 12:40 AM by gracefan2

Hi everybody,

I have almost 2 years of med/surg experience under my belt, and I just accepted an SICU position at another facility. The hospital is providing 16 weeks of classes including a preceptorship. I'm thrilled with the new position. Just wanted to know if anyone who has made the same leap has any words of wisdom?

I don't have any words of wisdom... but I hope to be in your shoes in a few months, and I just wanted to wish you the very best of luck and to say a big CONGRATULATIONS!

i am a new grad and in my 8th week out of 16 of orientation. it is truly incredible the amount you learn in an icu in a short period of time bc there is just sooo much happening all the time. having 2yrs med/surg experience will really help you and 16 wks i think is a good amount of time for orientation. i have found that having a preceptor you work well with is ESSENTIAL. make like a sponge and you will do great.
