by amjowens Nov 24, '09I'm in my second sem of RN program at a community college, but hoping to continue on for BSN after I pass my NCLEX. I've done research online so I can do pre-reqs, and came across MSU program looking to online and with relatively basic admission requirements. Is there a wait list? How is the program? Any info appreciated!

- Dec 1, '09 by WANT2BANURSESOONDouble check this information, but a good friend of mine who is a nurse was looking around for BSN programs in the area and decided against MSU because it gave her the least credit transfers of any other programs in the area, so it would've ended up being super expensive for her. She had a lot of credits from prereq's and other courses she had taken and wanted to transfer them, but MSU only lets you transfer in the first 55 credits....all the rest you have to take at a university or MSU (meaning can't be from a community college).amjowens likes this.

I looked into the one at MSU also and they don't transfer my pharmacology, nutrition, or pathophysiology class for some reason. I would have to either retake those three classes or test out of them. They only transfer part of my A&P class since it was a combination class. It satisfies the credit for the physiology prereq but I'd have to retake anatomy to get into the program. I'd also have to take another chemistry class (maybe 2 of them) to get in. U of M - Flint seems like there's less prereq hassle to deal with and the program itself is about the same in length.amjowens likes this. - Dec 11, '09 by frnzyJust yesterday I figured out that UM-Flint and UM are actually different schools. I was able to learn a lot just from the web site, and discovered that most of my classes will transfer. In addition, I was able to see the classes that I want to take...all before even seeing an advisor. This says a lot about the school and now I feel really excited. I'm going to email the advisor (again, from website!) and hope to go from there. The tuition is not the rate I've seen for out-of-state U of M -Ann Arbor tuition (would consider if MSN, but no way BSN). Tuition is actually reasonable. Jan 4, '10 by erinp88Try Ferris as well. I looked at MSU and they had extensive Chemistry and Math requirements.
