I'm glad I found this thread, I've been trying to get in contact with some MI nursing school students/hopefuls. I moved here recently from Ca and applied to Wayne State's traditional BSN program for Fall 2012. Anyone else out there waiting to hear back from Wayne?
Welcome and congratulations
I hear Wayne State is a great school, Im not too far from there I'm at HFCC to get my ADN, I start my program in August and then once I'm done I am going to attend Eastern MI University for the RN-BSN program.

Are you in the program or pre-nursing?TLCmommy - Congrats on your acceptance! I received my acceptance letter on Monday, and can't wait to start! Where are you headed to?
- Apr 19, '12 by WorkingTowardsBSNQuote from TLCmommyof3I've heard really wonderful things about the program at HFCC, and a friend of mine graduated with her BSN-RN at Eastern, so you've got some great schools lined up!WTB, Thank you and congrats to you, I also am super excited! I am married with two daughters, ages 3 and 1. I just got my acceptance letter Monday and will start in Davenport's BSN program this fall! I'm so excited! - Apr 20, '12 by TLCmommyof3WTB,
Has your school given you any info on your program, like schedules and stuff yet? Are you doing anything to prepare for the fall? Hope all is well
- Apr 20, '12 by WorkingTowardsBSNQuote from TLCmommyof3Ugh, NO! :-( According to the advisor, we won't have much info about schedules until closer to the start of the semester because they are working out clinical schedules with the hospitals.WTB,

As for prepping for the fall, I'm planning to take a few more classes over the summer. 1) I can take them at Schoolcraft, so tuition is MUCH cheaper, and 2) finishing these up should mean I can start in the 2nd year of the program. So many questions, and all they keep saying is to keep waiting. Aaah. What about you? Do you know anything about your orientation schedule or anything?
So mostly I read through threads here and window shop for scrubs and stethoscopes and shoes and advice.

No classes for me I am all done except for my program! yay My first informational meeting is in two weeks. I will get to choose my class schedule and put in my preference for clinicals (day or evening is the only choice from what I hear) and they will tell me all the specifics about everything then. I want to start getting vaccinations, but I am unsure if that is ok before having the titers test.
I do plan on getting my books soon as they release the list so I can read ahead over summer break. Besides that I am just going to try and enjoy my summer off with my kiddos, because I know its gonna be rough once the school year starts. My kids are used to me spending lots of time with them so I am worried about that.WorkingTowardsBSN likes this. - Apr 20, '12 by WorkingTowardsBSNI know exactly what you mean. I currently work 3 jobs (one FT, one 3/4 time and one PT) all from home. I'm with my kids all day, every day, so this is going to be a big adjustment for all 3 of us!
- Apr 20, '12 by SopranoKrisQuote from TLCmommyof3Thanks so much! I'm very excited. We're trying to get all the wedding plans finalized before school starts in June to help alleviate the stress levelCongratulations on the upcoming nuptials! I started back to school January 2009, It took me one year of pre-recs to get on my schools waiting list then another full year to finish my co-recs, and this past year I actually took some classes to go toward my BSN since I have been waiting to start my program. I'm married with three kids, ages 15, 9, 3 so I have only attended half time. I will start my nursing program in August, my first informational meeting is in two weeks so I will find out everything then. I am so excited to finally get to the interesting stuff! I was a dental assistant for 10 years and took off work after my second was born to be a stay at home mommy. Though I did enjoy the work I have always felt a calling toward nursing, I hope to be a surgical nurse, I truly enjoy watching surgeries. I can't wait to be working in the hospitals because strangely they feel like home to me!..lol Oh yea and I was born and raised in MI, I hope you love it here as much as I do!

We're doing a small wedding, so it's coming along quite nicely.
I'll be in the Lansing area and will attend LCC. I would like to finish my BSN at MSU.
My son is 13 and will be in 8th grade in September. His dad is going to stay in Illinois. Right now, the plan is for my son to finish 8th grade in Illinois and then he'll come out here to finish high school. However, my ex still doesn't have a job lined up so my son my be coming out to MI with me in August.
My fiance has 2 daughters. One will be 20 in a few weeks and lives on her own. His other daughter is 9, but she lives with her mother. So, no young kids at home, which will help cut down on distractions. My son is at the age now where he'd rather be out with his friends all the time than at home. He's a hockey player, so he's either with his friends or at the rink. At least I can still do homework at the rink during his hockey practices
