    Unfortunately it is quit the opposite. The demand for nurses are extremely high, the problem is not enough nursing educators out there for the amount of people that are going into nursing. It's all about getting the people who really know what they want and what they are after.

    They added the Intro to Nursing course so that people would have a better idea of what kind of career nursing really is, before spending all the time and money of starting the program. Believe it or not, prior to adding the course, there were people that got through all the pre-reqs, got into the program, started their courses, only to *then* realize that they are going to have to actually physically touch people, help clean up after them when they are incontinent, etc... Macomb really has done a number of people a favor by adding that course.

    I'm in favor of programs changing/evolving as often as necessary to keep things competitive so that only the people that have the strongest desire to be a nurse and have the brains to do it well, will be admitted.

    ME:::
    August 2011 start
    GPA: 4.0
    HESI: 94
    Rank: tied for 8th.

    All I used to review for the HESI was the Evolve HESI book, and I thought it was plenty. However, I had finished A&P just 2 weeks before the exam, and am kind of a math rockstar.

    Although the outcome couldn't have been any better, my worst enemy was my nerves! I'm sure I could have scored another point or two if I would have stayed a little more chill during the exam. Try not to let that happen to you!! They give you plenty of time to take the exam. IMO, way more than needed. Take your time. Take breaks as allowed. You'll be fine. 3.925 GPA is a great place to be going into the HESI. I have no doubt you'll make it in.

    I'm not in favor of it at all. It decreases your options when you're applying to RN schools; and I am certainly not going to take an additional class for a particular college that may or may not even accept me. It's just more time and more money

    That is great! I take it the 10th! It has been a year since a and p, but I had micro path in the winter. I am just curious do you think it is more beneficial to review the body systems as a whole or to review like exam notes? I am trying to do the notes and I feel like it might be too in depth, because I have done the HESI practice book. Any minor hint would be greatly appreciated. I am so very excited but so nervous Lol. Trying to make sure my nerves don't get the best of me.

    Find a balance between reviewing/studying as in depth as you can, without sacrificing your sanity. Finding that balance will be your key to nursing school success.

    For me, I just knew I wanted to become a nurse. I did my research and found that Macomb was the best way for me to do that. It's a competitive, accredited, well-respected, low-cost program that doesn't put people on waiting lists. I couldn't have asked for a better program to fit my needs. I truly hope you are able to find the program that fits yours.

    Did you take your test today? How'd you do?? I take mine soon too and am anxious to start hearing everyone's scores.

    Well I tool mine today I will be applying with a 93.6 on the HESI and 3.92 (assuming finals go good this week.) I will break it down better when I have the papers in front of me. I couldn't be happier though! Good luck!

    Okay so here is the update, I can't figure out how to edit my previous post.

    My Score: 93.6
    Reading: 98
    Grammar: 90
    Vocabulary: 92
    AnP: 92
    Math: 96

    Class Average was an 84.

    To those of you getting ready to take it, and if you are as crazy as I am, take a breather. It really isn't as bad as you will think it to be. The math was dead on, know conversions and household measurements. English, the questions in the book weren't to far off from what you will see as far as type of problems. The vocab is hit or miss on if you know the terms so I would say just try using extended vocabulary in everyday context. Reading was easy all you have to do is answer the question being asked, the paragraph will stay above the question so when in doubt refer back to the paragraphs. And my biggest worry was AnP; well all I can say is go through almost everything. The questions were not super in-depth or anything ridiculous. Anyway best of luck.

    Does anyone know how to check their placement for program? Maybe like a seat or anything like that? Thanks.
