Is there anyone else on here who is waiting for a response from WCCCD's nursing department? I applied June 30, and am going slightly crazy waiting for my acceptance/denial e-mail! Let's get to know... Read More
0Aug 22, '12 by ChefJackieI wonder why WCCCD doesn't just give us a date let us go there and pick up our letters. It would be much better for the environment, save them $, and save us a lot of grief.
1Aug 22, '12 by I no u c meI went to an application meeting in May and there weren't many ppl there. I was hoping the turn out was the same for the June meetings.Last edit by I no u c me on Aug 22, '12 : Reason: missd word
2Aug 23, '12 by Cece2001I went to the very first app meeting in April and it was only 4 of us when turned in applications. Me and the other 3 students even stayed talking ro the director for about an hour after we completed our apps, and during that time only one student entered and he didn't have everything he needed and was told to come back. I'm praying it is a low turn out this year, so we'll all have a better chance at getting in. Good luck and God bless every1. I wish they would hurry up and send out my acceptance letter so that I can stop holding my breath lol.
0Thanks CeCe2001 for that information. I figured the turn out for the early application meeting would be a little low. I expected the last 2 in June to have lots of people. if you've been waiting since April, I know you're probably going crazy because I know I am.
0Aug 23, '12 by KadambariI also noticed that there was not a lot of students during the June 30 application meeting. Does anyone know why there is such a low turn out? Not a lot of people passing the TEAS??
0I'm not sure but the less ppl applied the better our chances.
Would anyone happen to know if they give points for having all co pre-requisite classes completed?
I also took English at MCC. Will I get any point for that?
0Aug 23, '12 by KadambariYes you get points for having all of your co-reqs completed at WCCC. Since your English was taken at MCC, you may not get points for it.
0Just to clarify. I know you get 10 points for having taken ENG I, BIO 240, 250 and 295 and PSY at WCCC. But what about having all the the other classes such as Nutrition, Med Math, Patho ect completed?Last edit by I no u c me on Aug 23, '12 : Reason: remove word
0Aug 23, '12 by ChefJackieQuote from Audi5000Everything is based on a 100 point systemJust to clarify. I know you get 10 points for having taken ENG I, BIO 240, 250 and 295 and PSY at WCCC. But what about having all the the other classes such as Nutrition, Med Math, Patho ect completed?
60 points for gpa 3.8 and up (not sure of the other gpa's but I know it goes down in increments of 10 points)
They take only your pre-req's to get your gpa and if your co-reqs raise your gpa then they count those as well. The co-req's can only help you. They will not add the co-req grades in your gpa if it will bring your total gpa down.
10 points for 90-100
8 points for 80-89
6 points for 70-79
4 points for 60-69
2.5 points for 50-59
Then they add the same amount of points for the reading part except of course for the 50 percentage range as you must score a 60 or up on reading
10 points for all classes taken at wcccd
7.5 for 75% taken at wcccd
5 for 50% taken at wcccd
5 points for health care experience
2.5 points for having a license (cpr license counts too)
5 points for having co-req's done
2.5 for having half co-reqs done
someone on this thread stated the cut off last semester was 75 points.
This is what I gathered at the meetings I have gone to. Hope this helps!Last edit by ChefJackie on Aug 23, '12
0Aug 23, '12 by ChefJackieQuote from KadambariDo you remember if you got there early or late? I know I was really late so maybe earlier in the day there was more people.I also noticed that there was not a lot of students during the June 30 application meeting. Does anyone know why there is such a low turn out? Not a lot of people passing the TEAS??
I think a lot of people were really misinformed about the scores of the TEAS I overheard someone saying they couldn't get a good score on english but had 80's in everything else. And I was thinking WCCCD doesn't even look at english.
0I was one of the first ppl there and I would say there was about 20 ppl.
ChefJackie, thank you for breaking that down. Out of all of the threads I've been reading this is the first time I've seen it broken down that way. My chances look really good. I should get the max for the GPA and I have a 92 on the reading part of the TEAS. Lets just say I'll get 2.5 for the math part. I have all my co-req's completed. And as I said before I took all my pre-req's at WCCC except ENG I.
For anyone who needs to know, they only look at the reading and the math for the TEAS. Yes you have to have a 55% overall to pass the TEAS but you only have to have a 60% in reading and a 50% in math.
0Aug 23, '12 by BarbellOnlyHey I just got an email about immunization and titers. It says in compliance with WCCCD. It says its a service to help me complete the required immunizations and titers. Does this have anything to do with the Nursing acceptance? I haven't received my letter yet.
