WCCCD Spring 2013 Hopeful!!

U.S.A. Michigan

Published

Is there anyone else on here who is waiting for a response from WCCCD's nursing department? I applied June 30, and am going slightly crazy waiting for my acceptance/denial e-mail! Let's get to know each other, hopefully we'll be classmates!

I do CNA work now, I love it. I work in home care so I get to study most of the day because I'm with 1 client. Plus, it looks really good when you have 2 years of experience on your resume when applying for RN jobs...it doesn't pay a lot but it pays the bills and gets me through this program :-)

When I get back (hopefully in about a month) I want to go do CNA work, How did you get your foot in the door? did you pay for CNA training or did your company train you? I really dont care if I work in a Hospital, LTC, or at home I just wanna start my career and like you said having the experience is really good.

Any advice on where to go to train? or what companies i should look at that pay for the training?

I appreciate it

Thank you Kadambari and ShanayJ!

Is it a bad idea to find a job working the midnight shift durng nursing school?

I paid for my training out of pocket. I don't know what part of Michigan your coming to but I did my training in Oak Park but just look it up on the internet, they're everywhere. When I was finished I was on craigslist 24/7 until I found a job.

Registration is this Wednesday! I am very excited :) If anyone wants to say hello, I am Italian (dark brown hair, brown eyes, tan skin), female, I'll probably be wearing workout clothes cause I'm hitting the gym before the day starts.

I just also need to vent a little. I absolutley LOATHE when people assume "this is the hardest thing we will ever do." Don't get me wrong I am sure this will be very difficult but there are cancer survivors out there people and people that have faced VERY troubling times. If the nursing program is "the hardest thing you ever have done" I seriously envy you. Just sayin.....

Which reminds me, I need to stay on top of my workout regimen despite the crazy schedule we'll have when nursing school starts.

I am excited too. There is a brand new nurse on my floor who just graduated from this program. I always run to her for advice. She told me not to feed on negative comments. Make the most use of study times, note cards are your best friend. Never let the instructors know you are a CNA. She explained that to me and it's a lengthy explanation. We can do this people!

What hospital are you at?? I've been filling out apps like crazy!

Ok so I was one of the last one's picked in the lottery and still got some of my top choices for the 1st and 2nd part of the semester. I am at Garden City for my Clinicals andWEstern campus for all classes. Hope you all got what you needed!!

I'm glad you still got what you wanted. What time did you leave?

Going to orientation yesterday has made this whole this so real now. I can't believe we're on our way. I'm sure this has been a long journey for all of us.....I know it has been for me! I wish everyone luck. Let's not get discouraged by ppl saying how hard it is. Let's just think of it as an experience. Don't get me wrong, I'm not taking the competitiveness lightly. But success is not a smooth ride.
