University of Michigan (UofM) Accelerated program

U.S.A. Michigan

Published

Hi everyone!!! I am new to allnurses.com - I was wondering if anyone has applied for the Fall 2009 accelerated program? I have not been able to attend an information session due to scheduling conflicts. Does anyone know how many people apply to the program or know any "insider" info? I know that 50 people get in every year - I just submited my application last week for the early response deadline - good luck to all!!

That's upsetting. You would think such a high ranking well known university would have it together more. My 1st choice is OU because it is cheaper, closer, and still only 12 months. Afterall, a BSN is a BSN...right? I mean, I'm not so sure it will matter at hire time which school we attended....I could be wrong though.

Sad to hear that the program seems a bit disorganized. :(

Well I sure hope to hear one way or another in the next few weeks.

You would think!

While UM may suffer those drawbacks, but it does have something OU doesn't. It has a gigantic hospital right next door and priority clinical placement given to Michigan students. You also tap into UM's huge alumni network, and employers know that Michigan places a huge emphasis on leadership. Food for thought!

I emailed xxxxxx yesterday about when app decisions might be made and the email, while pretty much a generic drafted response, did say by Spring 2012. So does that mean by March 20th we should know? That's the first day of spring I believe...

Here's hoping it's only a couple more weeks of suspense.

Either that or she means the beginning of UM's Spring/Summer semester, which starts May 1st I believe. Could be a couple more month's if that's the case. I hope you're right. Good luck!

Haha! She's probably laughing at my naive hopeless statement then about it being the first day of spring that notifications are sent by! LOL. Oh well. Here's to the wait :)

Anyone hear anything yet? It's been a quiet week....:(

Not a thing. I have been checking wolverine several times a day. Nothing.....

If it's helpful to anyone, I found out about my waitlist status via email. My wolverine access account actually didn't change until over 24 hours later.

Nothing here either. I've been checking for so long I don't check nearly as often as I used to. Serenity now...

Does anyone know about the chances of getting into the program once placed on the waitlist?

I think it varies from year to year. It seems like most years they wind up taking only a few from the waitlist, but it sounds like they took a ton from the waitlist last year. I'd be lying if I said I knew why. Have you heard from them about being waitlisted?
