university of detroit mercy second degree program

I am thinking about going to Mercy's accelerated second degree program but I hear they lose many people during the year due to grades. Is that true? Is it too fast and should I consider a 2 year program? I am a good student but I'd hate to spend all that money then not make it as they don't allow anyone to retake a class so I hear as other schools do. I am open to all feedback. Thank you.

I was originally supposed to attend UDM in the January cohort of this year but several things happened and they informed me I could push back my starting date til May. So I attended the orientation back in November. The head of the program told me it was the same info so I didnt need to go again. I have registered for all my classes and I just ordered all my books literally 5 minutes ago. I have also ordered almost all my supplies besides shoes and socks. I have been emailing the head of the program. She gets back to me within a day. I can try to help with any questions? My email is [email protected]

Hello! I'm still attending as well. I got most of my books and supplies. We haven't signed up for class yet. At the orientation, they told us that if they haven't responded to our emails within 48 hrs then they probably didn't get it. UDM's email server filters a lot of gmails and other third party emails out. So use your UDM email to contact professors.

Also they told us that they will send us clinical groups and class registration numbers soon. We should be able to sign up for class when we get the course crn numbers.

One other thing I found important was that when applying for financial aid, make sure you fill out FAFSA for 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 years.

We will have convocation on may 3rd, so try to keep that day open.

I'm really excited and hope to see everyone in class soon!

Also, I don't think there is much of an email list since this site is pretty limited in PMs. However, I think there will be a page set up soon under Titanconnect by the school.

Can you guys give me your stats. I just recently applied.

Anyone else accepted into the January cohort yet?

**January 2014

jazevi, I was accepted to the January 2014 cohort!

Have you read any good tips on here? For the most part, I have gathered that it is difficult, but do-able.

Awesome! I'm excited. Have you gotten any other information in the mail or by email regarding orientation or when classes start? I paid my deposit and did my fafsa. I work full time so I need to let my boss know when I'm leaving lol. I called ------------------ and she gave me ------------------'s number abd I've left messages. Just want to know I haven't missed anything!

Oops... I guess we will call them advisors or program directors

No one? :-(

I am a Fall 2013 cohort student for the SDO. If anybody wants information privately, let me know. There are some things that you REALLY need to know. First, I am not sure if you all are aware that they accidentally admitted 25 too many people to the program for the January start. Those 25 people were actually supposed to be admitted for the May start. So before anybody quits their jobs, moves, etc. does the things that the rest of us did, make sure you are admitted! Did you notice at your orientation how crowded the room was? There is a good chance that the chairperson may not be in that position when you start. They expected 40 and 65 showed up to orientation. 40 is the number they try to limit the cohorts to. Secondly, there has been discrepancies with the number of credits we will be taking and whether financial aid will be available for the last 7 week term. We still do not have an answer. They have rearranged some things with the class layout, adding the last 7 weeks, etc. and they do not have the bugs worked out yet. I do not know yet how this will effect me, you should be concerned as well. [email protected]
