university of detroit mercy second degree program

I am thinking about going to Mercy's accelerated second degree program but I hear they lose many people during the year due to grades. Is that true? Is it too fast and should I consider a 2 year program? I am a good student but I'd hate to spend all that money then not make it as they don't allow anyone to retake a class so I hear as other schools do. I am open to all feedback. Thank you.

Did they share with you what the hold up is? If you have mostly all As and Bs you should be okay. My fingers are crossed for you.

Thanks creativetype. They did not even hint towards why it is taking so long to hear back about the decision for me. It is so strange because I got a letter in the mail about five weeks ago that thanked me for applying and said once my transcripts were received I could expect an admissions decision within 2 weeks. My transcripts were already in by the time I got that letter, so I've been expecting my decision for the past 3 weeks...

I'm not too worried about my grades, but I feel like its a bad sign that its taking so long to hear back. It'd be nice to know so I can figure out my next move...

Hi! I am very excited that I was accepted to start the Acc BSN in Jan 2011.

I am interested in hearing what the 2nd semester is like (for me, it will be in the summer) A friend of mine has asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding. I am wondering if I will be able to participate (seeing as her date is the weekend before exams).

Thanks for the input!

Congrats Lo-be!!!! I was just wondering if you could tell me when you applied and how long it took to hear back that you were accepted. I applied June 22nd for the January 2011 cohort and still have not heard back... Again, congratulations and I hope to be joining you :)

msuliz2010, did you ever get a definitive answer from UDM?

Well, admissions got back with me today. They said I'm not accepted to the program yet, and what I got in the mail was information they send to all nursing applicants. Which is interesting since Kalabaw was already accepted to the program and hadn't received that info while they were still considered an applicant.

All I can do now is wait... again...

Hey bigdude, no they have yet to let me know their decision. I'm really going insane :/

That is really crappy they have not let you know yet.

Yes she is the person from admissions I've been talking to. Wow, I'm really bummed if they've filled all of the spots and I haven't heard back yet... I feel like that's a really bad sign. But who knows maybe they haven't informed everyone yet. I am trying really hard to stay positive... Thanks for the info, will you be applying for the may 2011 start?

Do you have all the pre-reqs done?

I will have them done once I take my last two prerequisites this fall. When I applied they reviewed all of my classes from my degree at MSU and let me know I had two pre reqs to finish and asked me to send my plan for where I would take them this fall so that they could make an admissions decision. I sent that plan like a day or two later and have been expecting my decision for what seems like forever

What about you, have you already finished yours? Try to stay positive, I'm sure you are a great candidate... it's just so competitive now that everyone second guesses themselves... My pre req GPA isn't a 4.0, but I took all of them so far at MSU while taking 400-level science classes, so I'm hoping they take that into account. Ugh, waiting is the worst part!

Your application might be unique, but I'm sure they have had somewhat similar applicants in the past that they accepted (and I'm sure they did very well in the program). And I guess after all... all they can do is say NO, right?

At first I thought the admissions process was going very smoothly, now I feel a bit different :p
