Titers, TB, etc...

U.S.A. Michigan

I am starting to think about getting my titers, tb test, drug screen, and physical done to start MCC this fall. I was wondering if anyone knows where the best place to go for this is. I am not sure if my insurance will cover it or not and I hate to get a huge bill from the doctor. Any advice????

Go to your school health center. Every semester you pay a health fee so take advantage of it. I got all of my titers, physical exam, tb, and tetorifice done at my college for $50 which is way cheaper than any dr.'s office. The co-pay alone is usually $30. Hope this helps :D

Wait until you get your start date. The physical etc needs to be done in the 30 days before you start the program.

Look at the Dept. of health.

Congrats! I am starting at OCC this fall. I went to Oakland County Health Department ...

MMR...free (mention that u r a student).Tb skin test...free (only certain days, though).

Hep B.....$72 for all three doses. Tetorifice/Diptheria...free. They don't give varicella vaccines to adults, but macomb county health dept does ($86 per shot---$172 total). A varicella titer can be done at Providence occupational health (southfield) for $24. Also, Providence will do physicals for $20, urine analysis (alb. and sugar) for $8, varicella for $80/shot. Best price for varicella seems to be Oakland country primary care (pontiac) $65-more info>??????

Question, does anyone know if there is a waiver form for the vaccines? Can you opt out because of religious reasons?

I think Hep B is the only one you can opt out of, and they said if u are pregnant you are exempt until you give birth, otherwise im not sure.

Probably not, they might just tell you to opt out of nursing. You typically can waive the Hep B shots. The point being is you are going to get exposed to these diseases. Do you really want to take them home to your family. Beyond that getting any one as an adult is much more dangerous than it would be as a child.
