U.S.A. Michigan

Hi All,

I am still preparing for the TEAS test and although I have been doing pretty good on the study guide tests I just wanted to see if there is anyone else out there that has taken it. Also any helpful hints or suggestions they could give about it. Any info at all would be great! Thanks much!!

The version IU took was very similar to the ATI study guide so I would definately recommend that. I also heard numerous people used the ionline practices and really liked them..I couldn't afford both so I just bought the study guide. One thing I did benefit from was that I intially was going to take the test early on way before my application was due and I ended up postponing it several semester until I was in my last pre-req semester and I actually would recomend that. My reason is that I actually didn't jave to study very much because so much of teh knowledge that is on there was very fresh. Also the hardest part for me was the time on the math. I am a good math stduent so I didn't worry much and I actually ran out of time and had to guess on my last few problems which I hated doing.

I took the HESI prior to this with little or no real studying. It was kind of thrown at me like okay in order to get in this program you have to do an 80 or better on the HESI and you have to take it in two weeks. Needless to say I didn't get the 80 or better because it had Anatomy on it and I definitely hadnt taken Anatomy at the time. I ended up with like a 73%. I do have the TEAS study guide and I wish it had more than 2 practice tests in the back of the book. I think I could really benefit from like 2 more just to gauge how much better I am getting. So far I am doing good on them all except for in the science section. Science has always been a little harder for me than other subjects. I kind of choke up when faced with it on standardized tests. I am just going to keep studying and hope that it gets better. I have to get at least a 70% on the TEAS to even still be considered which I don't think would be too hard. Are there any other online sites that may help with practice tests?

I don't think there are other sites. Have you taken all your science classes? Thats what helped me. Also are you taking the version 4 or 5?

From the looks of the study guide that they sold me I am taking version 5. Yes I have taken all my science classes but I still don't feel like I'm ready. Go figure I wanna be a nurse but science is my weak point :(

Well I've heard the version 5 is a bit harder, I took the 4. My results were very surprising I actually scored best in science according to teh way they judge each seperate score. I was worried about the A and P because I took it quite a while ago but there was almost zero on there which I brushed up on the most lol..I was surprised that some stats stuff ewas on tehre but I had just taken that the semester before. I'm sure you'll do fine..What school are you at?

I am looking into the LPN program at DBI (Detroit Business Institute) Its there first time doing it and they are accredited by the State. It seems to be really tough to get into an RN program so I decided to take the LPN route and then do a bridge into the RN. Plus its a little less than a year long and it would give me a raise at my current job. We all like raises!! :)

I am trying to get in to the DBI program too if anybody has any info for it please send me a message i have nopre reqs i am doing that in the spring and fall but just want to know more on the entry process for the program.thanks

MsAshley, the Director of the nursing program at DBI is a wonderful woman I had the pleasure of learning from in fundamentals lab. If you get in there you will get an excellent foundation.

I have her now, she's tough but fair. I ended first 2 with A's, so no complaining here.

the program is good so far, being the first class of course things arent going to go 100%. But I have to say that they have a pretty good start. The Director has laid a good foundation. you need English comp 1&2, 2 Algerbra classes, A& P 1& 2 (Some schools make you take Biology first, if so see if they let you test out to skip it) I think thats it.So get busy, take Half Summer & rest fall ( make sure yu get your grade before enrollment). Give yourself enough time, just incase the class is full, or you fail, (god forbid) & have to retake a course. Trust me they wont let you in until they have everything, I have seen people in tears. But the next class will enroll jan. 2012.

I was accepted to Detroit Business Institute and I start in January. I took all my preq. for RN but I did not get into the program with a 3.6 gpa. I can not find much information on the school and I am worried.
