I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about the LPN or the ADN programs offered at Schoolcraft College in Livonia. I am applying to several schools, and I haven't heard anything at all about this school. TIA, Nicole

I graduated from Schoolcraft CC as an RN in 1983, have gone on to earn BSN, MS in Anesthesia and DNSc. I thought this ADN program prepared me well. Good Luck!:kiss

I am a Schoolcraft College alumni. Associate Degree Applied Science. Worked in hospitals, nursing homes and home care. My training has helped me to achieve a great career.

I am a Schoolcraft College ADN graduate in 1984. Hard but great program..

and we love you Mrs. Steffke an outstanding Instructor...prepared me well for Nursing...Med-Surg, Cardiac, Home Care; Geriatric, Pediatric, Psychiatric and Phone Triage........... :rotfl:

Do you know if they have a waiting list right now? I am looking for an LPN to ADN or BSN program in the Ann Arbor area. I emailed for more information, but haven't heard anything back from them yet.

Thanks,

They replied pretty quickly when I contacted them a few months ago. From what I was told, they do rolling admission. So, the first people who apply and meet all of their requirements are accepted. I can't remember how long the wait was for the ADN program, but it was 1 year for the LPN program.

I attend Schoolcraft right now. There is a waiting list (at least for the ADN degree). I am finished with my pre-reqs, but can't start the nursing program until a year from now because of the waiting list. I will be 51 when I finally graduate, so I'm not real happy about having to sit around a whole year. But this is something I really want to do and Schoolcraft has an EXCELLENT program (not to mention it's less than a mile from my house!). I could go for the Nursing as a Second Career accelerated degree at Wayne State, but the thought of two more chem classes is too daunting. Besides, at 51, will I really need a BSN?

Which brings up this question: How do you guys feel about waiting lists at the community college level? It's based solely on your finishing your pre-reqs and passing the NET. Other than maintaining a 2.5 gpa, grades don't count. This really sets me off because I have a perfect 4.0 gpa and it buys me nothing. I worked HARD for that 4.0 and I feel it should have been a consideration when I applied to the nursing school. Just a little whining at 9 a.m.....sorry about that!

Anyway, if you're interested in Schoolcraft, just call their counseling center. I'm not sure about summer hours, but generally you can just walk-in and get an appt (but I would call first). Plus you can get much of the program information off their website, including a nursing application. Good luck everyone! Maybe we'll run into each other in a class someday!

I had to be on the waiting list too but I didn't have my pre-req's done when I started waiting so I did them and didn't have too much down time.

are 2 more chem classes the only difference for the BSN? if so I would say it's worth it. age is only a state of mind (haha) so that shouldn't matter too much it's all about what you want to do with your career once you graduate. I have an assoc and it has served me fine. I get offered management work in nursing homes but I dont want to do that anyways.

As far as grades getting ya into the program I am glad mine didn't keep me out!

Good luck in what-ever you do,

Marie
