Macomb Community College - 2012 HESI

U.S.A. Michigan

Published

Well, another year means another time for more score updates. I am getting ready to take my HESI in a couple weeks to apply for the 2012 Nursing Program and I must say I am really beginning to get nervous! Thanks to their recent addition of HHSC-1040 (right before I was apply :banghead:) I am just curious how everyone did, and what was it like this year? I have no clue what to expect and I have been searching forever. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am really not worried about the Math or Grammar sections. I'm more worried about the Vocabulary, Reading, and A&P section that they added. Any advice would be great. I already have the Evolve HESI book that I have been reviewing from for the past couple of months. I'm still just really nervous.

I don't have a HESI score yet, but my GPA to apply for the program is: 3.925.

Again, any advice would be grand!

two questions... has anyone with an october start received a "checklist" of things thats need to be completed before the start of nursing? i need to find somewhere that i can take my ACLS really soon, any suggestions? Also are we required to wear our scrubs to all classes or just the clinical classes?

DB11186- I haven't received any kind of checklist yet, I've just been doing stuff that they talked about in the orientation. I don't remember what they said about how to do that passport thing. Anyway, about CPR: this place does the BLS certification BLS Healthcare Provider: Basic Life Support Training

and also there is a place in Richmond, MI that does a class every month, the august one has passed but I'd still call and see when the next one is CPR Training | Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce. I did mine there, only $50 and just a few hours plus a test.

The nursing secretary said we are only required to wear scrubs to the clinicals. I don't know about you, but at least one day I have class then a clinical right after so might as well just wear it all day rather than change in the car!

August Starts - how was your first week???

does anyone know about the ace passport? is the website ACESystemACE Passport ??

I don't know too much about it. I think we're supposed to get all that info whenever we get our packet with all the physcial forms, etc.

I just got an email about it, I haven't looked that much into it but you will probably receive one as well.

In the packet they mail with the physical forms, there is info about ACE. And they will sign you up for the email themselves. I just got it the other day. If you are an October start you'll have till Oct 8th to do the ACE.

Did anyone get scrubs from the bookstore? I thought in the orientation they made a fuss about it had to be Dove brand uniforms, and my mom picked up one for me, and they were Landau, is that right? She said they were in the nursing section. Did anyone else get that brand too?

That is the brand the said to get, and that is what they sell for nursing in the bookstore. When are we supposed to get our nurse packs? Can we get those anytime now or do we go a specific time?

I just started in August. When I went in to get my Nurse Pack they told me that you couldn't get it until about a week before classes start and you have to get it at the front cashier counter. They have to check your name on a list first. They said it's because they have syringes in the pack. Good luck starting in October!!

How do you like the program so far??

So as far as getting immunizations...should I wait til I get the info sheets? I have the list from orientation, but do I need specific forms signed? I am scared that I will go to the health dept, etc and then get the packet and will need to repeat steps. I don't start til jan but wanna make sure I am on schedule.

I love it!! Lots of work though. Tons of reading! We are all getting to know each other. It's going to be a tough 2 years, but definately worth it in the end!

thanks! that is weird though, they sold 'Dove' at the used uniform thing. Anyway, I am an Oct start, and my mom picked up my books for me 2 weeks ago and the nurse pack. She didn't say anything about a list, or that it was a problem, should be able to get it now. You could call the bookstore: 586.286.2093
