I have heard some where around 15 or 16. you are very lucky. where i do my clinicals they pay 11 or 12 to start. I know some of the larger hospitals don't hire LPNs like beaumont i think. i think providence does. http://www.hospitalsoup.com is a good website. you can search for all the hospitals in your area. it will give you links to there websites were you can look at job postings. I search on it often. it is very easy to use. good luck. and let us know if you need anything else!!

Currently I'm attending Davenport University for my nursing degree, which they have a ladder program and you have to start with the LPN first then work your way up. Has anyone heard anything about Davenports Nursing Program? They said it started on their Midland Campus first now they have it in Dearborn and Warren Michigan.

A friend of mine is currently going through Davenport's program. She attends in Midland and seems to be very satisfied with it. We are both studying nursing. However, I attend a different college. So I can't account for Davenport first hand.

hello sirena, i have been an LPN for almost 9 years. i have been working for same facility for 4 years and i make 22.45 base pay, with 1.25 shift differential when i work 3-11 (my usual shift). i also get one dollar extra an hour on the weekends. i am at the max on my payscale, but will be finisihing my RN soon and will be moving on to a job with about the same pay, but without the 300.oo a check taken out for insurance

i know many more LPN's in my area who make 28 dollars an hour average!

the only thing i have heard about davenport is that they are not accredited. other than that haven't heard anything.

Hey Rehab Nurse, thanks for the info. Where is it that you live? And was that the starting pay or you got raises.

Nusing is MY Dream, can you ask your friend how long it took her to get into Davenports Nursing Program?

I can tell you that she started sometime around Fall of 02 with her prereqs.. I remember her saying that she had to complete all of them before the program (pretty much the norm for anywhere). She started her clinicals this last winter. I do know that she goes summer semesters also. She is only doing her LPN part-time though. So she won't be done until a year or year and a half from now. My school only offers a fulltime LPN program. The next time I see her I wil ask her for a little more detail. But I must warn you, it may be a while. We both have very hectic schedules. Between school, jobs, and family (she has 3 kids and I have 3) we only seem to see each other once in a while. Have you tried contacting Davenport at all? They have a web site and will send you info. I can also tell you that here (central Mich.), I think, now don't quote me, that LPN's start out around $15 an hour. I work in the ER as a registration clerk and I haven't really asked anyone.

Hi Rehab Nurse, I read your post and was wondering what city you lived in and where you work,if you don't mind my asking. I would really love to know more about other areas as well. Thanks!

I was wondering what part of Michigan are you located at and what is the differential for a 11-7 p.m pay and the starting rate for a new LPN
