HfCC waiting list

Does anyone know what the average wait list time to get into the nursing program at Henry Ford Community College is? Also what are all the requirements so that I can make sure I have all my ducks in a row. :redbeathe:redbeathe:uhoh3:

It is definitely easier. And yes even at WC3. Thats the only way I have registered except for when I first started going there almost two years ago. I'm not sure who told you that but I think that they may have been wrong because I have never heard of that before.

Good to know! Maybe I read something wrong - being in limbo is making me nutty! LOL I just want to get going already because nthe longer I wait the more mental roadblocks I set up for myself.

Muah!!! looks like I will be starting the nursing program in winter2011 or spring 2011 at the latest!!! For all of you who are worried about the NET expiring after two years. I was informed by one of the ladies in the nursing admissions office that the NET no longer has an expiration date.

How long have you been on the waiting list stillwaiting?

HFCC is a joke. I have been on the waitlist for 2 years. I was suppose to start in the fall of 2010. Last semster I had a very close family member die and I blew off school. Yes I know that this was my own fault. However I went to both admissions and the nursing department and was told that if my gpa dropped below the 2.7 needed level that I would be put on academic probation for the next semster and that if I did not bring up my gpa before I was invited to the nursing program that I would be removed from the list. I was never put on academic probation and received a letter stating that due to my gpa I was removed from the nursing waitlist. Mind you I am retaking the class that caused my gpa to be low and I have a B in the class. This was all done 5 weeks before the end of the smester and before I even received a letter to invite me to the program. I am so ****** off that I was not given the right information. They told me that I could go back on the list but on the bottom and that there would be a 3 year wait. However if I go get my lpn and go back after a year I will be able to jump in front of all the other people on the list and start in the next starting section. It will only take me 3 semsters to fininsh the RN program. So I could of got my lpn and went and got my RN all in the time it took me to be on the waitlist at HFCC.

Wow. I'm sorry to hear that. I know how frustrating that may have been seeing as though you had been waiting all that time and were misinformed. Is there anything that you can do as far as getting back on the list? Are you going to try looking into other schools? I think that I am facing a similar problem now and I am not too sure of what to do. I am already well above the 2.7 gpa needed however this semester just has not been a good one for me. I think I may have seriously burnt myself out early on seeing as though I have been going to school for 2 years straight and working full time as well. I took Chemistry and a math class (although I didn't need it but needed it to get my financial aid) and I swear I feel like I am failing BOTH! I am like beyond stressed and unsre of what I should do. I am thinking that I need to drop the math class since I don't need it before I end up lowering my gpa severely but I am scared of it affecting my gpa. Knowing that I could have went and got my LPN makes me wonder if I should consider doing that. I am only a few classes away from being able to apply to other programs and this Chem class away from being placed on the wait list at HFCC. At this point I am unsure of what I want to do.

MsAshley: I have was placed on the waiting list Mar09. It has been a long wait; but well worth the wait. HFCC has a great nursing program and it is cheaper then going to university. I truly believe that when I graduate from HFCC finding a job will be quick because of the schools reputation. Health care managers always like hiring HFCC graduates.

If I were you I would drop any class that would lower my GPA. There are tons of people with GPA's well over 2.7 who are waiting to get in, if your GPA gets lowered I'd bet money that you would be dropped from any wait list. There are so many people on the wait list that I believe that anything is used to free up spots. If doing the LPN is an option go for it but still keep yourself on the wait lists for WC3 and HFCC for nursing because you never know what can happen...

Thats so true and I think I am going to drop the class. My biggest worry though was financial aid. I have emailed about 3 people in the financial aid office to find out how badly would this affect my chances of still receiving financial aid. I have never dropped a class before and this year I actually accepted a lot of the loans because I needed a new computer. I just don't want them to think that I took the classes just for the money and want to drop. I have never done that and wouldn't want to jepordize my future aid. Do you think that will affect me?

Ms Ashley,

As long as you have been in the class for a number of weeks it generally doesn't hurt your financial aid...but ask your advisors just to be sure. I think you have to be in the class for at least half the semester for it not to affect you

Yes I did talk to them and they said it wouldn't affect my gpa so I am going to drop the class

Aaaaaaaaaaaaah! I just got my ACCEPTANCE LETTER!!! :clpty:

Congratulations!! How long had you been waiting on that lovely letter to arrive??
