Everest Institute.. Anyone have info?

U.S.A. Michigan

I'm looking into the Everest institute LPN program in Southfield.. I called and they want you to attend an info meeting however, I will be out of town on the next two dates they are offering. Has anyone gone to one of these meetings? If so could you share any info on the program? TIA!!!

The going rate in the tri-county are ranges from $16 to around $26 per hour depending on what type of facility you work in. If you end up in a research center you will be on the lower end. If you are in a nursing home you are in the higher end but you are going to work your butt off. So pick your poison I guess. Some people in our graduating class are having trouble finding jobs right now although a few of us got lucky and got hireed right after taking the NCLEX.

Hi Hopesgramcracker,

Are they not finding jobs because the economy is bad right now? That would be a horrible thing to take out all those loans at Everest and can't find a JOB!!!!!

I think that is part of it and some just are not professional in appearance/communication.

Hopesgramcracker how is the job going for you so far?

Wow! Weren't they taught that in school? I hope they wouldn't waste all that money going to school and not get a job due to they're own lack of apperance/communication I'm glad to see that there is someone from Michigan that has actually graduated from a LPN program and is willing to share information with the rest of us!

Sirena, I second that. I dont hear much from the LPN crowd and just applied to a program myself. I am not sure what to expect and even with A 's I dont feel prepared. I just finished all my A&P and feel like I dont know squat.

WOW Anne36, I guess you will have to apply what you've learned when you get in a program. What school did you attend for your science classes?

Hi Hopesgramcracker,

I got accepted!!!:yeah:Orientation is Friday, I'm a bit nervous not knowing what to expect.

I have been going to OCC and hope to be in their program.

that is great patientlywaiting33! just be prepared for a culture shock the first level and don't worry you will get through it. just remember to pace yourself with a certain amount of pages to read everyday from your book because that is where your test questions are comming from. they will fill you in on orientation. good luck to you!!

Congradulations Patientlywaiting! My sister-in-law did to; good luck to the 2 of you!

Hi Hopesgramcracker,

OMG where do I begin? I went to orientation and it was for all the programs Everest offered. I was informed that it was for LPN students only!!!! I didn't receive any information other than they would call me to let me know I WAS ACCEPTED..I thought I was already accepted. It's a long story to much to type. We start class tomorrow and we don't have any knowledge on what books to bring, we didn't meet our instructors, nothing. They are so unorganized, it's so nervewrecking. I thought about changining my mind about the program. They said we would receive a packet of information in the mail with the syllabus our acceptance letter and everything. I haven't got that yet either. Hopesgramcracker, I really hope my whole 11 months won't be this way. I'm a very organized and punctual person. It seems as though they want you to do what they want in a timely manner, but they never follow through with their end of the bargain. I'm just really getting frustrated because this program isn't cheap and they aren't taking that into consideration.:confused::confused::confused::confused: Any suggestions?

That sounds really weird. I would love to know what happens your first day.
