U.S.A. Michigan

Published

I just had my final exam for A&P 1 today. I got an A in the class and begin A&P 2 in 2 weeks. I dont know what the syllabus will be ( or who my Proff is) but Im planning on reading Chapter 16 The endocrine system in Human Anatomy & Phys 8th edition Marieb. before class starts. Anyone else taking A&P 2 this summer?

Yes, the 8 wk at AH. You taking it there? Congrats on your 'A'!

Specializes in Emergency Nursing.

Yup, I'm taking it too...same text as well...we self-studied endocrine, so we're jumping right into blood I believe.

Congrats Anne on getting that A!! I know you were worried but now you see it has all paid off! I am taking AP1 this summer and then AP2 this fall. I hope I come out with a good outcome like yourself!! How was it overall?

Im going to HL OCC campus. Its close to my house or I would have gone somewhere else. The Lab stinks, but I'll just have to figure it out. No idea who the Proff is yet, its listed as Staff still.

Thanks everyone for responding, I hope we can all discuss our class in here.

Ashley, the class was a lot of work. A&P does not have to be this hard. The hard part is have a load of information thrown at you and then having no idea what to focus on for the critical thinking questions. This forces you to spend 30 hours a week studying as much as you can cram into your brain. You have to know the book, the powerpoints, the notes and diagrams, and then sometimes you still cant get the right answers.

Awwww Anne I hope you are feeling better today! I know being sick is never any fun especially if you have a lot going on which it seems that you do!

I started AP1 about a week ago and already I have had 2 tests and I have 2 more tests this week coming up. Since I am taking it online I am able to see my scores automatically as they post and right now I have a B. Hopefully I am able to keep that or even get an A!

Anne, I feel your pain....I too have been sick, must be something going around! I haven't had the nausea (which is probably the worst), but both of my kids have also had it. Ugh! Definitely makes it difficult to focus on the heart and blood vessel unit we're doing now in A&P II. Hang in there! I found that the Tylenol for Muscle Aches and Pains (8-hour) seems to really help. Remember--runny nose = antihistamine (allergy tablets (w/chlorphrenamine maleate 4 mg) work great), and congestion = decongestant (pseudoephedrine). Dad's a pharmacist, very resourceful :-). Feel better soon!

Thanks, Im feeling better but very tired now. I have been working on the heart and vessels today too. Im so nervous for my first test this week! I dont feel comfortable yet in this class to know that I am studying the correct way. We are testing on blood, heart, and vessels.

Ashley, what chapter are you on right now? How in the world do you manage 2 tests a week? That blows my mind.

Anne,

Its extra tough to manage the two tests per week because it doesn't really give me a lot of time to necessarily learn the material he is testing us on. I am constantly in the book taking notes and doing the practice tests that he gives us so that I can cram as much knowledge in as possible. Since I am taking it online I am assuming that it is a lot more fast paced than it would be in the class as we are constantly covering 1 to 2 chapters per week. I just took my skull anatomy test in Lab and am studying Chapter three right now which is the the cellular level of organization. Hopefully I can finish the chapter before the test or I don't know what I'm going to do!!

I got my first test back and got an A. Im still very worried about this class. The lab is extremely difficult to master. Im having a heck of a time in there. I really need to start giving it the attention it deserves and treating it like a whole seperate class.
